Default Optimax just gone up 11p overnight to 109p????

Just filled up. Bought Optimax a few days ago for 98.9. Its now 109p. Went to BP and had to buy Ultimate at 106p!!!! The standard unleaded doesnt appear to have changed in price, about 95p. This is in St Ives near Cambridge.

Is this something to do with the forthcoming blockade? Why has the margin for super unleaded sudenly gone up by so much?

Are you sure it wasn't 100.9p? The differential between nul seems about right then.
It's 100.9 here.

100.9 for me last time I filled up (couple of days ago)

I know I didn't buy the car for the economy, but £42.50 for about 210 miles is getting expensive....

I keep hearing everything has gone up not just Optimax. I don't look at the price, I need it so I just fill up - no need getting depressed over something you have no control over.

Your MPG control is how you drive the car - so it is up to you how much you wish to enjoy the drive

Just paid 102.9 .................

Some garages are profiteering from the panic buying thats going on - they should note that things return to normal soon enough but memories are long!!

If its profiteering I dont understand why they have only targeted super? I've put my scooby away and just filled my ZX6R up with unleaded. Looks like I'll be on 2 wheels for a while. A 10% increase since yesterday? Thats banana republic inflation.

what about we all pay for our petrol in coppers, and boycott all the tasty delicacies like chocolate croissants and slush puppies, because thats where there profits really lie!!

how about it, we could all drive too our local petrol station and not buy anything, just wave our money infront of the cashiers!

I just filled up there this morning and can confirm the ludicrous price differential. Any idea if fenstanton and huntingdon are the same?
If so, I suggest the following:

As long as this differential exists then it must be cheaper to ditch optimax and use 95 RON + octane boost? at 15 p a litre then that's an extra 7.50 on 50 litres - isn't octane boost around 3.50 a go?

Just what was going through my mind mpr; I'd avoided filling up in Fenstanton as was at a rally in Oakington yesterday; traditionally A14 garages more expensive but I'm wondering if this is a one-town rip off? Havent been past Huntingdon but someone else reported 1.21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in March. Jaysus.

I've got some OB in the cupboard, now might be the time to test the regular unleaded theory.
