Default Cylinder head advice

Got a bit of a dilemma; I've got three sets of heads I could use

1. Gas flowed STi2's
2. STi5/6 in bits and need a valve
3. Sti 7's (JDM) all together and ready to go

Which ones should I use on my 2.5 Axis stage 3?

Sti 5-6 heads and replace a few valves if not all of them...
(Supertech valves can be supplied by Pavlo at a very good price)

Surely it kinda depends wether you're aiming on using phase one or two inlet and add-ons...????? or do you know something I don't??

I have both phase I and II inlets.

I think what I should do is use the STi7 heads till I've sorted out the STi5/6 heads with vernier wheels and bigger valves.

Can I re-use the Cometic head gasket if the head has been torqued down but the engine has not run?

Right need to decide what I'm doing.

Any interest in a set of gas flowed STi2 Heads with red crinkle cam covers ?

Any interest in a set of STi7 JDM heads both complete

Mark, right decision use the Vers 5 / 6 ones. Thin steel gaskets.

what year is the car? if it's a phase 2 car, then stick with phase 2 heads, as the idle control valve on phase 1 manifold will cause problems for you.

Single Sti valve for v5/6 is about £48 new, although I have a few used ones knocking about that are straight.

V7 heads should be good, although a little bit of a waste without the AVCS being controlled. I might be tempted to go with the v7 heads if you already have them. Appropriate gasket thickness will depend on the piston dish and deck height.

Paul it's a 93/94 wiring loom with a Link ECU, is the best way to describe it. All the mechanical parts have been changed.

Can you tell me how to wire up a 3 wire TPS to a 4 wire loom?

Has anybody ever fitted a phase I inlet to phase II heads, i.e cut and swapped the gasket flange section.

If you fit the STi7 heads to a classic can you control the AVCS with anything.

Not without fitting a suitable ECU ( MoTec, Standard STi 7 or 8, Autronic SM4) and dont forget the additional wiring that would be required to activate the AVCS solenoids, read the cam angle sensors etc etc.

Stick with the Phase II, version 5/6 heads as recommended above.

Conrad,

That's a sensible recommendation, but how do you propose to overcome the different stud pattern on the heads, and the increased distance between ports accross the engine?

I know these problems can be overcome (just as I have), but it's certainly not a trivial job.
