Default WRX03 - Great tow Car

No NOT a caravan. Towing a 17 foot (1100KG) sterndrive powerboat to Lymington the weekend aquitted itself well. Loads of power and good braking, rock steady at any speed and pulled the boat out of the water up a wet slip way with no drama. Plus fun watching the double takes from other drivers when they noticed the scoob was towing the boat, quite a rare sight. Try doing that in yer Porsche Boxter/911/etc. Yet further proof the scoob is the most versatile performance car you can buy for the money!

What sort of mpg were you getting. Will be fitting a towbar in the next few weeks to tow a track car

The MPG actually doesn't get affected .............. I tow 1000kg and the economy isn't affected one jot (which surprised me somewhat!)

I towed all manner of race cars (on transporter) with the MY03 wagon- apart from quite a lot of clutchy smells when maoevering it was an excellent tow car.

The Impreza is fairly light however so you have to be very careful how you load said trailer.

I didnt check that carefully, I thought it used about 25% more than usual though, the boat does sit quite high and there must be a lot of extra drag as well as the extra weight

If you are fitting a bar i would recommend the genuine subaru removable bar - quite straightforward to fit yourself if you're reasonably mechanically minded, very well made and comes with exellent instructions.

If anyone wants one I have a genuine Subaru MY03 towbar, but it would have to be collection only as its bloody heavy.

My consumption is probs about 25% lower when towing- i'm sure its not so bad once you're rolling but it takes that much more effort to get it rolling, lower gear and higher revs up hills to maintain momentum etc etc.
