Question How *quiet* is a Blitz NUR Spec ?

I finally made my choice on the exhaust...

I want a Blitz NUR Spec.

Now my thread title may seem a bit stupid , BUT...

...I would like to know how *quiet* the Blitz is with the removeable rear baffle on, compared to other scoob exhausts: prodrive/ninja/hayward and scott/etc...

Any idea???

its VERY loud have one on mine and it gets some stares, people tell you its loud but you cant appreciate how loud it is till its fitted then you will know what i mean

if you like your neighbours you will spend a lot of time creeping into the street in 1st gear at about 5mph so you dont rev the car

Do you mean Nurspec or Nurspec R? only the R comes with a center section and bung.

The R with baffle fitted is a bit louder than PPP levels, quiet enough to be borderline legal and acceptable on long journeys.

Yes I meant the R with the center section. I'm really seduced by the idea of buying a quality product that will give me the best performance while not spoiling the car usability on long motorway trip. It makes me mad not being able to take a desicion now, if I continue that way I won't buy my new exhaust until 2015...

So everybody seems to agree it is loud without the baffle, but only G00ner answered fully my question.
Any other comments on the sound level with baffle fitted?

Exceedingly loud!!

Just had my de-cat and with the tubalur headers and no bung it makes 107dbs!!!!!!!!

Great for setting off car alarms and making old people falling over when it pops back and flames though

A LOT quiter with the bung only really comes alive on boost but otherwise reasonibly dignified. Not measured the db level with bung though.

Yes do watch for plod! Come off the gas when you see them. IMHO the blitz gives the best of both worlds. Reasonably quiet with baffle very loud without, but then you didn't buy a scooby because you were shy and retiring! I have a blitz on my my99 type ra and yes it is very loud especially without sound deadening, however in a 'my exhaust is louder than yours' type debate there are few exhausts that are louder. Considering the scooby roar is one of the things that attracts people i say get it bought lad!

Is it sooo loud that YOU HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPITAL SO I COULD HEAR YOU?
Just kidding, thanks indeed for the comparison point.

But I really want to insist, with the baffle fitted how does it compare?
If only I had a couple of testimonies that with the baffle fitted it is not worse than a ninja or maybe between a ninja and an afterburner I'd definitely go for it.

Also would it pop and bang with the baffle?

I've got a Blitz NUR spec R on my MY95 WRX, as well as de-cat.

With the baffle in, it makes a nice noise - quiet-ish on tickover, and low revs, but quite loud when your on boost. Its not intrusive though, with 4 people in the car, the people in the back can still talk and stuff - it just gives a nice rumble IMO!

With the baffle out though, its a different story. Loud on tickover, loud on low revs, and when accelerating its screams like a banshee! When on de-acceleration it pops and bangs, and when cruising along it burbles like nothing ive ever heard!! If you want people to check out your car.... take the baffle out, EVERYONE turns to have a look!

It does pop and bang with the baffle in, but obviously its not so noticeable or loud!

IMO if you want a nice sounding system, and occasionally want something that sounds like thunder.... get the Blitz!

Sorry I may be being stupid but what do you mean?

Car is running HKS tubular headers, HKS de-cat pipe and Blitz nur spec (obviously cat-back)

What difference would the spec-r make and what is the difference between the spec and spec-r?

spec-r includes higher diameter center section.
spec plugs directly on the original scooby center section

I've got one on my MY03 WRX. The bung makes a big difference. It's not too loud with the bung but outrageous without it! My bung doesn't fit right so it makes a horrible vibrating noise when in. Anyone know where I can get a replacement or some good heat resistant tape to lag it?

Cheers,

Graham

Damn, it doesn't sounds like "The design and construction of the Nur Spec R exhaust is second to none."

I'm not so sure about it anymore... If only their touring model was available in europe

What are my other options considering I would like power, good fit, and excellent built quality?

The bung is only a few mm to small and this is enough to cause it to vibrate. Other than this minor flaw, the exhaust is well worth the money. It still brings a smile everytime I put my foot down!

I'm after a spec R too. I can get one new for £475 but I was hoping for a second hand one for less cash.

Maybe if anyone has or would be willing to put up some sound clips of the spec r. Im in the same boat as you mate. Either a vortex or spec-r for a my05 Sti, though im very keen to get the spec-r for its looks, quality and cost, i dont want it, if its going to be stupidly loud.

Was going to buy it this evening, but i guess i'll hold off to see if any sound files are available and make my mind up then.

I have a nur spec r fitted to my my99 uk car i ran it with the baffle fitted in the tail pipe and loved the noise, good on long journeys and great when given a rip, the quality is second to none fitted perfect and with superb biuld quality, i have recently had the car mapped by andy f and to get the best out of the map the baffle was removed, i am now in the position that i cannot refit the baffle as it will give boost control problems and due to the millage i do i am now looking to remove the exhaust and replace with something more subtle so would be open to sensible offers i paid just under £600 from rc developments just four months ago.
