Just bought one of the first WRXs (Dec 93) and I love it - problem is my supposedly better half has found a major fault with it.

What's the fault I hear you ask....

Is it the whiplash everytime I sprint through the twisty stuff?

...................................No

Is it the fact that I spend more time under the bonnet than with her?

...................................No

Is it the fact that I'm now spending all my cash on a stupid lump of metal?

...................................No


Is it a mechanical fault that I missed?

...................................thank goodness, No.

The major fault is the lack of a vanity mirror in the passenger sun visor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I don't know - why why why did subaru spend millions developing this car and omit to improve the handling and power though the use of this essential modification! I'm on the phone to Japan as I type!!!!!!!!

That's my wife's remaining criticism of the car now that she's got used to it and admits that it's 'not bad.' You can get one of those sticky on mirrors from a car shop then it'll be happy days all round.

 

Ditch the GF!!!!

 

Mind you, the speed you'll be going in the Scoob, a vanity mirror would be useless, but I can see a "Airplane" moment with the application of make-up!!!!

i used to wait till the missus used the wing mirror to apply her lipstick then shake the steering wheel equalling lipstick everywhere and one very pissed off missus

 

Just ignore her...My missus moans about it all the time hates ther looks the noise the seats...Just let it slip over your head and enjoy the car

 

erm, tell the g/f that nobody will notice if she has lipstick on or not, it's the car they'll be looking at LOL


and yes, im a girl, and yes im blonde, and NO I hadnt even noticed there wasnt a vanity mirror on the passenger side!!!

mines the same! my coilovers,dump valve and exhaust totally scare the ****e out of her.......dont know what the problem is!

 

i was reading that thread to the girlfriend there and she had it guessed before i got to the end. Apparently mine has one though, but she just complained that there isnt one in the drivers side, wtf!!! Why is she trying to look at herself while driving!! Ive just banned her from driving the scoob!

 

get some visors out of a later car...believe it or not i have sold a few sets to people always blaming the missis moaning because the early cars don't have em!

 

if you dont mind me asking then how much did you pay for it as its about the same age as the one im looking at

 

My GF is cool about my car, Cause she nows I live and breathe scoobies. But dose nt like it when I bang her head back against the seat when i excelerate n when I brake n leave her hanging by the seat belt at roundabouts! But she said to say it dose look pretty n she did buy me lots of great bits for my b day! V cool GF, roll on xmas!

 

 

Yeah, my lass complained about the lack of vanity mirror on the passenger side too!


And she hates it cause I spend more time cleaning it than paying attention to her, and I spend more money on it than her!

She says I love it more than her!

She also doesn't like the attention it gets from other females. She keeps telling me not to go out cruising in it (I don't!) incase other girls eye me up!

 

Tell ya G/F she wants to think her self lucky that the big end hasn't gone an you arn't spending £6000 on a new engine.Anyway its the car that everyone looks at not her, if all else fails GET RID, of the g/f of course not the scoob.

 

totally agree with you on this one,gf hates the car full stop !!! she said its to loud,fast etc. and like cyprus scooby attacts attention from the girls,the wrong kind of intention she said ? mmm... i wonder what she means ?lol

pulled up at a petrol station to get petrol,food etc.

flling up the scoob,gf was inside getting food etc. 2 fit blonde girls pull up in a s200 and came over to have a chat with me,one of them was well flirty,gf came out and went balsitic !

same happened to me, in the end i had to get a stick on vanity mirror to keep her happy

 

Only thing my wife moans about is me not driving it fast enough ! she loves it and drives it much harder than I do ( maybe its paranoia on my part knowing if anything blows up I have to pay to fix it ! ) - although she wont admit it I think she likes the attention she gets from blokes when they see a smart looking girl driving a 'mans car' and generally leaving them for dust.

She did buy me one of those 1/10 scale model rally imprezas as a wedding anniversary present though, so I cant complain - apparently the bloke in the model shop seemed quite put out when she said 'have you got any green ones, cos thats the colour his real car is ?' and nearly puked when she said 'he's got a model Ducati like that one there, to go with the real one in the garage !'

 

they dont have vanity mirrors cos all japs look the same! that was the only complaint that my gf had about the scoobs,we currently have 3 imprezas at the moment and have fitted them all with passenger side vanity mirrors from the breakers etc, so no complaints

 

Girlfriend and I would like to extend our thanks for all the laughs that you have given us in response to this thread! Although she was a little concerned at how many people wanted me to get rid! Think she's beginning to realise that there is now serious competition for her affections. lol

My original message was very tongue in cheek - she really likes the car, so I'll need to watch out for fit birds in petrol stations!!

Obviously, she compliments me and the scoob perfectly! aahhhh.

Maybe she'll buy me a vanity mirror equipped visor for xmas - hint hint. Then again, maybe I'll buy it for her xmas - sods law dictates that we'll end up with one each!

My wife hates my 2005 STi. She says the ride is too rough. Admittedly, the ride is a little bit harsh, but you pay to play.

I do believe that you need a replacement bird, mate.
