It's been on Litchfields site for abit, in the T25 write up.
The standard spec will be about 279bhp and with PPP should go upto 330bhp. I think that would be the reliable limit on standard internals. The torque factor should be more with it being a larger displacement.

Looking at the WRX which will also be 2.5L could be the deal of the century if they use the same block. At the quoted import price of £16k get a de-cat and remap and who knows what the power would be.

BTW this is all speculation on my behalf and I don't really know what Im talking about LOL.

Oh and there out in September.

I think the only reason it mentions 2.5 on the T25 website is because the T25 has always been a 2.5
I can't find any report anywhere on the internet that the 2006 UK spec Impreza WRX or STi will be a 2.5
Be nice if it were true though..

Danny I think this might be a bit of a give away,

Subaru’s ubiquitous 2.5lite (EJ257) block first appeared in the 300bhp US STI then later in the Forester XT/STI and soon in new 226/276bhp European models.

That is all well and good but there is still no official line from Subaru as the whether we will get a 2.0 or 2.5.

Not in the country until Sept though.

I was under the impression that the STi got the 2.5, but the WRX was staying a 2.0

All Brands state that the WRX is a 2.5 too

"IMPREZA The new Impreza has raised its product appeal by redefining its sporty looks and the drivability inherent to this model. The Impreza WRX series is fitted with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER Horizontally Opposed engine and STI version features an improved version of the driver’s control center differential (DCCD) as an standard equipment, an electronically controlled All Wheel Drive (AWD) system that adds a torque-sensitive, mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD). Balancing high levels of maneuverability and stability, it embodies driving pleasure."

2.5 WRX sounds very interesting - any idea of the power/performance of these?

Some info on American 2006 models here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/imprez...tml#mechanical

Its says they are getting the 2.5 in the WRX but its only 230HP - thought it would be more than that?

The 2.5 is used in the US for one reason only, the fact that its better for the crap fuel they use, we in the UK will have the 2ltr for both the STi and the WRX for the near future, ie the 2006 model.

You are indeed correct - at least the bit at the end.

The MY06 JDM models on Litchfields site are 2.0 litre cars. Iain also converts these to the T25 which is tuned for power.

Tony, it is however true that the European cars will be based on the 2.5 litre block already in the Forester. I would not expect a big hike in power though, maybe a bit more torque. This is from the Editor of Scooby Magazine!! and posted here

When I do eventually get round to finding all my old posts, its tony you will find in each of them saying it will be a 2.0

Give it up Tony, admit defeat!

I saw an article in Autocar (which I still have somewhere) saying the new Sti will be 2.5L and the WRX will remain as a 2.0L

I'd put more faith in an official Subaru press release than what Auto Car say. http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/news/pr.../05_08_05e.pdf Can't see 'em just keeping a 2.0 WRX for the UK Market? I am sure Subaru UK are keeping quite about it until they shift this years 2.0 stock.

Saab released details of the 2006 9-2X as well... of course being a re-nosed WRX, the engine details are the same as the forthcoming WRX for the USA.

Here are the details :

Saab Tweaks Horsepower and Price on 2006 9-2X

Date Posted 10-AUG-2005

DETROIT — The Saab 9-2X, a sister vehicle of the Subaru Impreza wagon, gets a slight bump in horsepower and price for the 2006 model year.

In what is likely a response to lackluster sales, 9-2X prices have risen only $25 due to an increase in the destination charge. The former Linear model, now rechristened the 2.5i, starts at $23,710, including a $720 destination charge. The 2006 9-2X Aero model, which is based on the Impreza WRX wagon, has a base price of $27,670, including destination, according to the Swedish automaker.

The 9-2X 2.5i's name reflects the wagon's 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that is rated at 173 horsepower, up 8 hp from last year. The uplevel 2006 9-2X Aero has a new 2.5-liter, turbo four-cylinder boxer engine that makes 230 hp, up from 227 hp on the previous model.

The 9-2X Aero's sport package is revised to include 17-inch wheels with all-season performance tread and xenon headlamps.

What this means to you: The 9-2X gets some minor tweaks for 2006 while Saab holds the line on pricing in the face of disappointing sales.
