Default New 05 STI + PPP or not :S

Hiya

I currently have an 03 STI UK ( Prodrive springs and a TSL Firestorm pipe )
Im heavily toying with the Idea of trading it in and getting a New Silver STI with the PPP...

Do you think im doing the right thing?
Are the new versions that much better?
Advice?
Tips?
Haggling Points?
Anyone get any FreeBies..

Its alot of money again... just need some help committing

Thanks

Mat

you will loose a bucket load of cash in changing. Do you think it is worth it? what about remapping yr current car. This and a few mods, exhaust, fuel pump etc & you will have better than PPP performance for a lot less cash.

Thought about that.. but i have never really been happy with the handling of the 03 model...

From what people have said the 05 is a totally different car...

Gonna test drive on Thursday.. but i really dont know :P

You could always wait until the new shape hits the showrooms and pick up a used MY05 for a lot less than new (let someone else get killed on the depreciation!!)

Have a look at a JDM car, and particularly the Type 20's or Spec C's from Iain Litchfield. With the T20, you get all the benefits of a JDM car (better engine, more power etc) plus many of the benefits of the awesome Type 25 (fully adjustable race suspension, Milltek exhaust and full remap to IRO 315bhp ) and all for similar money to a UK car with PPP. Even has a 3yr warranty. Give Iain or Tim a ring, I'm sure they'll give you good advice, whether you want UK, JDM or one of their modified dream machines.

While this may be a good option, I'm sure the insurance on either the T20 or T25 will be horrendous.

I moved from an 02 UK STI to an 05 UK STI, and these two cars are worlds apart (both with PPP by the way).
From what I understand the 05 has the spec c suspension etc.

Just my twopenneth on the subject,

You could wait until the new model is out and try to get a bargain on an MY05 STI, but I would have thought that its VERY unlikely that it will have PPP thrown in free at that point on MY05 cars.

For 10k you'd just end up with just another STI like so many others. At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with your car other than it not having DCCD and slightly sub standard handling in comparison. with the MY05

As yours will be out of warranty soon, I'd go with the suggestion to get some performance and handling mods done. For £3-5k you could have a better handling, better performing STI than one you could buy for £10k extra.

before changing check out depreciation - its bad - I looked at trading my 54 STI and I can't believe how much it has lost in just 10 months!!! can't be many cars that have dropped so fast??
Buy a new one only if you have money to burn or are gonner hang on to it for years (still burns but slower)

I wouldn't be so sure ! My mate has just bought a T20 and his insurance with A-Plan is around £800, which considering the upgrades to the power and suspension I think is quite reasonable. I pay £680 with Privilege for an 03 WRX PPP

05 STi chassis is sweet, with free PPP it was a decent deal but you'd be lucky to get it free now unless a dealer has one in stock. 06 to be decided, looks hideous to me in pictures, but it may well be better in the flesh... Personally I traded an 04 WRX PPP for the 05 STi with free PPP, extremely pleased with the car.
