Just wondering what turbo is fitted to 99my uk. Mines gone pop and wondering if a td05 is an upgrade for it?

And if i get an sti5 intercolloer will that be bigger than the standard one currently fitted?

AFAIK its a TD04 turbo and the STi5 intercooler is the same size as the standard UK.

A TD05 will certainly pump more air at the expense of response. You might consider a TD04 hybrid that Andy Forrest offers which is good for 350Bhp, available as an exchange. The intercooler on the 2003 onwards STIs will offer a noticable improvement to whats fitted now but theyre a little tricky to fit; Im sure someone in the tech forum will be able to offer advice though.

Yes its a TD04 fitted to MY99/00 UKs.

It wont just be a case of replacing the turbo with a bigger one (like the TD05). You will need supporting mods which will add £££s.

STi5/6 i/c has slightly bigger end tanks.

What supporting mods would it need?

Its been tek3 remapped recently so thought it would just need fitting and then remapping again?

But an STi intercooler (even a 5 or 6) is considered an upgrade to standard 99/00 UK and will help with bigger power (300bhp+) when you add a bigger turbo???

Am I right?

Depends on how far you want to go?

Bare minimum - just a remap.

300-350bhp - Fuel Pump, Reg, Filter, i/c, headers. You may get away with less bits if your power aspirations are at the lower end of the scale. TD05s are also quite capable of breaking boxes if used to their potential, so factor the costs of a stronger box (quite dear).

Had a new fuel pump fitted when it was getting remapped, didnt want to risk a pump failure, also got green filter full decat & ninja exhaust. Thought i may need a bigger cooler with the bigger sized turbo but still not too sure if the sti5 is going to offer that big a difference from the standard i/c. Was poss thinking of getting bigger injectors with the turbo?

I dont want to go too mad with the power gains, currently running 250 and somewhere nearer to the 300 mark is all i want to achieve.

Cheers again for the help

You wont need to change injectors as they can easily cope with 350bhp.

The STi5/6 i/c will be fine for your power goals and is a straight swap.

You may need a 3-port boost solenoid also as so mappers perfer this.

Who mapped your car?

I have a spare TD05. PM if you're interested.
