Since you've own a Scopby have you been beaten off the line by anything other than a bike?

If you are stupid enough to even attempt to get off the line quicker than anything remotely 7 shaped then you should have been shot at birth

Seriously now even with a boat anchor ford pinto engine a seven replica does 0-60 in around 6-secs. With a k-series that weighs half as much what do you expect

I take most things (even suprised bikers, who probably weren't giving it 100% at all, but were shocked there was still a car behind).

Trouble is, calibras, saxos, novas and clios all can get away quicker...

When I first got my scoob I was taking some bird back home at around 11pm, and pulled alongside a GSXR750 or something at some lights. It's (almost) two lanes, going downhill for a bit.

Anyway, revs to around 5k, dropped clutch, shot off line much faster than the biker (who must've been napping). Just changing into second when I notice two police cars up ahead - apply brakes and pretty much keep within the 30 limit.

Oh, and before any hypocrites start talking about speeding in a 30 it was lit, there was no people walking etc., no old people, no school nearby, so leave it out!

Anyway, biker's seriously upset so he winds it on and shoots past me with the front wheel scrabbling in the air.

He doesn't see the police until it's too late, and decides to just go for it. Both police cars take off in pursuit, but I doubt they caught him. Hope they didn't get the bike's number plate either.

So, sorry to that biker but I found it all pretty funny!

There are so many hot hatches with very respectable 0-60 times, it wouldnt be worth thrashing the car from the lights just to get a few metres ahead in a sprint. I prefer to wait for the rain

2 spring to mind, although not off the line. 2am M5 northbound a year back. My P1 and what looked like a standard but noisey Cavalier. Out of the roadworks and he floored it and left the P1 in its wake. Think it was a heavily modied turbo but I couldn't catch him until he let me.

Then again in a P1, both in the same weekend. Honda Civic type R - pulled out a bit too late as he saw me about to pass and then he floored it. The p1 kept up, just but nothing left to get past. Worried him though as he resorted to overtaking on double whites to get away.

And embarrasingly - what looked to be a Saxo/Corsa, out of a roundabout. he was hanging back, bit of traffic and I did get caught behind another vehicle, but as he went past, i followed and couldn't catch him until we got to silly speeds. Just seemed to be able to match anything I had. P1 as well

Have switched to Evos now, and apart from 20 year old Renault 5 1.1 that overtook everything in its path regardless of on coming traffic and a austin metro that did the same, and then ploughed into the hedge, thats it.

What is the distance between the line and finishing post ?

If its 10 ft not many cars will beat my Daihatsu 659cc rain or shine and if its anything more than 60 MPH my RB5 was royally spanked by an M3. Once I got an M3 I realised why

Never beaten on the road in 50k miles and 4 years (and with only a stdish MY99/00 until recently).

5 drag days, 3 of which were RWYB and 2 of which were comps. Only beaten in heads-up vs another far quicker Scoob from this forum.

I came off a motorway sliproad onto dual-carraigeway and was obscenely embarrased by a Merc AMG. I have to say I was gutted.

The AMG mercs are pretty awesome.

Had a drive in the old style V6 CLK32AMG, it was quick, but didnt feel special, then had a go in a E55AMG, now that felt much quicker and sounded awesome.

Plenty of flashing TCS light from a standing start too
In only 6 days of scooby ownership I havent been beaten by anything off the line yet....did have a little ding dong with Z3 2.8 the other night, until it started to rain and he backed off and fell back

i wouldnt race an old vw bug if it had a large muffler, you only need 140bhp in a bug to destroy a scooby over the 1/8th mile. my 56 bug had a mere 100bhp and covered the 1/4 in 15.5s and 1/8th in 9.9s

140bhp, 750kg, rear wheel drive, rev to 5k drop the clutch and the things will pull a wheelie
