Hello!! Huge smile, but...
Hello all. Just got me a '51 WRX, Bugeye saloon
and the grin just won't go away.
A question though. There seems to be a HUGE flat-spot at about 5k revs, almost as if I'm lifting off (which I'm certainly not
) then there's another quick blast before the red line.
I've seen the power graphs of a few standard WRXs and they all seem to go a bit flat about 5k - do you think that's what I'm experiencing?
Without going modding-mad, are there any possible solutions? Is there anything short of a re-map that would do the trick? Currently fueled-up with the dealer's 50RON lighter-fluid/paraffin-wax combo, so will treat her to some Optimax and see if that irons things out any.
Totally standard car. Just serviced (although there's a slight, but noticable high-speed vibration through the steering wheel under braking - how much to replace warped discs? And are they best done in pairs? Skint, so might need to put this off.)
If you see a grining nutter in a dark Blue WRX in North London, give me a wave

Hi mate, welcome to scoobynet & impreza ownership. You will never have any money now and will learn lots of lovely words like Maf, Knock, Det, PsLewis, re-build and the spine chilling CHAV!!!
But don't worry about any of them, just enjoy your new car
.

yep yep...
a few tasks of optimax may well improve things, if it's been run on cooking petrol for a while thanks to previous owner, it'll take a few tanks for it's little brain to learn of the gift of the opti...will also help give all the hidden bits a clean...

Jesuz! I hope not!!Thanks all.
Any ideas about the cost of replacing discs? Just in case the dealer denies he agreed to do the brakes
Not upgrade, just replace...
