Smile Whinning at 60mph - 100km/h - THE SOLUTION!

Subaru has released a service bulletin 29 Abril 2005 with the following statement:

"Countermeasure to ELIMINATE NOISE from the Rear Differential Area"

I leave you here copy of that bulletin:

Hope FINNALY this will solve this annoying sound and I can put my radio quieter again!

Unde this bulletin, yes, but my03 my04 and my05 all appear with tis problem...and the DATE of this bullettin may tell us, that only now the problem was looked and resolved. Many changed their rear diff, joints etc....and with no sucess.
Subaru officialy never did confirm this problem until now....

Better late than never, and the best part? All can rest now, because the problem is a mere ressonance, between diff and structure, cured with some dampers, and not a sign of the diff / tranny going to meet his creator!!!!

oh...dont say....
But it says that models since april 2004 are already "cured", but that's not the fact (seeing all the posts). You dont loose nothing to try and change it (under warranty) and then feedback to us the result....lets hope for the best!

Mine was modified on Saturday. Only diffrence since the mod whinning now occurs at 61 / 62mph instead of 69 mph. Car is going back to the dealer on Thursday. Guys in the States that have the same problem are having a hard time getting Subaru to fix this problem. No way I will put up with this on a 20 grand car.
