Watches - help with buying
Hello
I know there are a few of you on here in to your watches. I am going to get a new one for my 30th birthday and so wanted a bit of help. I cant afford a Breitling or a TAG Kimi Raikkonen (i wish i could !!) but i have seen a couple on the Ernest Jones website and wondered what the opinions on quality are.
One is an Accurist. I really like the design of this.
The other is an Armani.
Or if you know of anything similar for similar prices then i am all ears (and eyes). Are things like this cheaper in Europe (Germany specifically) as i am going there next week ?

Hmm, hard to know what to recommend in that price range. The main thing I'd say is avoid fashion brands if you're spending a fair bit on a watch (e.g. Armani). They may make nice fashionable clothing, but watch experts they're not.
You can't really go wrong with a decent Seiko, maybe one of the Kinetics?

Shop around though, there are loads on eBay too e.g.

I have an older kinetic that I paid £200 for in NYC about 5 years ago, it keeps better time than my Breitling!
Or, for something different - how about a Poljot? They make very decent mechanical watches for the money.

yeah, cant go wrong with a seiko kinetic auto relay...or u-boat are making some nice ones...maybe something by bell & ross, i believe they have some models that might not break the bank...?!
I've got one of these, sure it was £400 a few years back... cracking watches if a little on the heavy side.

bought a tag classic auto a couple of years ago. our company (in order to get a "trade" deal) bought the watch and then resold it to me. no vat avoidance or anything like that, but this does give you the ability to save 30-40% off RRP. having said that blitzwatches offer deals around the same sort of price as the "trade" prices, but don;t know how good their service is

As been said previously, Armani are more for clothes than watches.
On the site there though there is a nice Rotary Chronograph at £149.50 which looks very Franck Muller. White face, chronograph, leather strap. Nice watch.
Have a look on e-bay. Some of the more less mainstream watch branch, eg Ebel, Longines, etc can be found for reasonable money. BUT be careful!

Good tip for ebay on reasonably expensive objects is to look for local sellers and either pick up after auction or see if they will remove from auction early for a cash deal... Not illegal apparently partic if early in auction & only low bids... they just say the item is no longer available for sale! - Happened to my wife trying to buy something ~ 15 sec before auction close! Tad annoying but perfectly legal apparently!
