0-60 of a standard UK 2000 Turbo (un-modified)
Hi,
Anyone got any realistic times of a UK 2000 turbo 4 door, 5 speed??
On my first ever 0-60 try, I got 8.3 secs....I recon I can shave a second off that easy with a practice or two, I didnt dunp the clutch very hard. does that sound about right?
the quoted figure is 6.5 secs I think. anyone actually managed this? I dont think my car is capable without wrecking the clutch!!

6.5 was a bit of a joke TBH. I think Subaru probably knew it to, but kept it at that for insurance reasons! Ever magazine that has tested the MY99/00 has recorded a 0-60 time of the mid fives.
You should easily be able to acheive the quoted mid 6 figure without wrecking your clutch! Don't dump it at all- modulate the throttle against the clutch such that the revs remain at about 3.5k and instant slingshot take off. Alternatively, let the cluth out fully at low revs and then plant the accelerator. Brief pause then........whoa!!!!!!! Great fun and won't hurt your clutch!

Well mine is a MY98. I cant see any conceivable way it would get to 6.5 secs though!! just doesnt seem to be enough power there!! I'll keep practicing though

On a std TD04 in a car with its cats in place, you'll hear the turbo starting at about 2.5k rpm, it gets serious at 3k ish and is really blowing at 3.5k. Keept it at 3.5k at launch and it's goodbye to pretty much anything you can buy for sensible money!

I'm fairly new to scoobies, but a fairly competent mechanic.....anything specific to look out for that might cause power loss?Cheers,

with only an exhaust change, back in the day, stef managed a 4.8 0-60 on a uk turbo.
I would check for leaks.
60bhp of transmission loss is actually quite low, I guess it depends on the rollers. I would expect anywhere between 80 and 100.

Foolish i know but it sure shocked him when i shot off
He was behind me and went to overtake me..He was so quick to react to what i did that he just wheelyed right next to my window then by the time i was topping 2nd he was already well ahead of me! They are sooooo bloody quick bikes : O
