Its no bargain if it lets you down every week, if something BIG goes, when bits fall off the interior, when rattles drive you bonkers, when the value has dropped like a ****** drawers on payday!!

There are no bargains, just a price that someone will pay ........

Good deal it may be if you get a good one - I wouldn't fancy one built when the redundancy letters were being handed out!

£12K for a brand new V8 then reduced to just under £8? That does sound cheap. It sounds as though at £12k it has already been reduced quite substantially. I thought those cars were top end of £20K if not more. I did hear last week before the redundancies that they had all had 50% knocked off.

Buy a 3rd party warranty and it should be ok. Caterpillar do all the MG Rover parts so it should be okay.

"If a customer walked into our showroom now and looked at a brand new car we wouldn't know what price to sell it for.

That's the situation not just with us but every dealer in the country.

Discounts on the sales of most new cars, not just Rovers, are dependent on bonuses from the manufacturer.

We are waiting to hear from Rover as to what, if any, bonuses are being offered and what margins we have to play with.

It's very difficult for us at the moment.""

Took the wife along to the Rover dealer this afternoon to see if we could pick up a cheap car for her...

They said they had been told they had been prevented from selling any new cars (even if they were sat in the showroom) until further notice from the dealers... They could still sell second hand ones, just not new...

The salesman said that they were hoping to hear something in the next week...

Well Caffyns Eastbourne have marked down most of the cars on their forecourt by about £2000 so far...

Wow, I've tried swapping my wife for one of those Matchbox cars without any success either.
