Default megan headers to a my01.

Has anybody fitted a set of megan ss headers to a 01 wrx.

If so did you have a complete nightmare in fitting them ?

or is it just my car.

pmsl @ Jon!!!

Lower rad bracket needs bending, you will need to jack up engine (ie remove engine stay) and mount bolts and raise it to clear up pipe.

Once fitted they were hitting the front section of the sub-frame. plus also hitting the corner of the sump.(right corner section looking at the front of the car.)

Dont know about the business of jacking the engine up to get the up-pipe through on a classic. I got mine through by careful rotation of the headers with the car fairly high off the ground. MY98 WRX.

Other classic issues are that the headers touch the sump, just, but I redesigned the sump (with a hammer) to stop this. The rad bracket needs cutting or bending and the wiring loom holding out of the way. Other than that they fit well. Wrap them before fitting though as spool up IS increased by doing this.

I used a full 30 metre roll on the headers which only just covers when overlaping the wrap by half. Wet the wrap in water before using it or get a GOOD face mask!!! It has nasty fibres that easily become airborn.

The downpipe takes about 10 - 15 metres depending on cats, diameter etc.

Wayne.

PS See Carls thread in projects for Megan stuff. Page 13 ish.
