Default STI 5 Type R v Type UK

OK guys n gals

The time has come to upgrade my UK98 scoob to something newer, faster with less miles!

So.. tough decision time!

I need to decide whether to buy a Sti 5 Type R or save a bit more cash and buy a type UK...

What would you do and why?

Thanks

Cool

hi mate, personally i would go with the V5 sti Type R, yes i know that the new sti's are better interior quality and all, but at the end of the day you very rarely see a Type R, ith its fun DCCD and all, also the only 2 door scoob absolutely great and i just think that the classics are still the rawest impreza yet , its upto you obviously, but i know what i would choose

the type r is blisteringly quick for a standard scooby.. u'll find urself changing thru the gears quickly!!! i love mine

wouldnt recommend as a daily driver personally especially if u do a lot of motorway driving!

Assuming both are standard then you are comparing a type R car thats about 1270kgs and 276bhp with a type uk which is 1470kgs and 261bhp.

The sti is heavier and has less power and so ultimately slower.

Yes you can PPP/remap the sti but you can ecutek/remap the type R as well.

well i average about 25k a year, but mainly country lanes!!!!

OK, so if you had 17k to buy a new scoob that has the bling factor what would it be?

You will have to frive them both mate to make your decision.

Don't forget to try a P1 also - maybe a little more expensive than a Type R - but you may find it better suited to you.

Have a look on www.p1woc.co.uk for plenty more info.

Ill second the P1 as it seems you will only have one car and youll be racking up lots of miles. Get one with lots of warranty and youll have best of both worlds.
