Default Big difference between UK Turbo and Type R STI?

I currently own a MY00 Uk Turbo with a few mild mods (Decat, Filter, TEK2) and I've been thinking of changing for a while.

Looking at changing altogether to an R32 Skyline or an EVO5. But theres a few Type Rs for sale on SN that just look stunning IMHO and I know I'd miss the flat 4 burble.

I'l drive all the cars and then if I really do decide to change at least I know for myself but I would appreciate if those that have driven both UK cars and STI Rs (2 or 4 door) could give an opinion on how much different it would be to a UK car with the mild mods mentioned.

Many thanks.

/edit - or just upgrade my UK turbo? (VF35, FMIC, Power FC, Whiteline goodies etc etc etc)

STi Type R's are 2 door, RA's are 4 door.

I went from UK MY98 to MY99 STi 5 Type R.

Car is totally different, an altogether much better beast. Everything about the car is better, gear change is spot on, handling with DCCD is amazing, stability is awesome. Have never looked back, and am going to keep the Type R for a considerable amount of time! Due to the lower gearing, there really doesn't feel to be any lag at all (also due to the VF28 roller bearing turbo). The cars really are chalk and cheese!

I honestly cannot imagine a better car for my style of driving (and as such, will not even bother to look).

You really need to test drive one, as some people cannot get on with the TypeR/RA's (rear bias, noise, close ratio etc).

Read the link cheers mate.

So, a Type R is a different car to a UK but is it a car that can be used as a daily driver?

I had a 96 uk turbo , then a 99 sti type r,then a 94 wrxI changed back to a four door because as Tony Flow says some people cant get on with the type r tail happy antics and i didnt get on with em !

As far as using type r for daily driver, i tried and £30-40 pounds a day went a miss....that was to work and back + out shopping, outings etc...

My type r was 300bhp and my wrx was 267bhp and the difference in mpg was amazing.. semt to get loads and loads more miles more in the wrx ...

If you do motorway miles then you don't want the RA gearing IMO
