Tax Disk and trading in
Hi
I'm trading the car in tomorrow and was wondering whether it is normal/acceptable to keep the tax disk and get a refund on the unused portion? There's over six months left and the dealers charging me for the tax disk for the new car, so wondered if I can recoup my cost (in part) by the refund.
Can you get a refund on the tax disk once the car's sold?
Cheers
Nick

Yes you can, and as the dealer charged you for another lot of road tax I would deffo take it out and cash it back in, all you need to do is send it back to the DVLA.

The dealer priced your car with the tax disc on and is entitled to it as per the contract/order form that you signed .
If you take yours off your car can he remove something to the same value of your new purchase?

" Sir, condisdering mileage, condition etc I can offer you £7500 trade in, with the 6 months tax lets say £7580"
Bull****, take the tax out, thats what I did with the GF's Golf
Its different obviously if you're selling the car privately with 6 months tax, but believe me dealers are'nt the most generous with their trade in prices - keep the tax IMO

You have gone in with a car and got a price, I dont see where it says you can start stripping things off the car.
Does the dealer have the right to take the speakers of the new car because it wasn't in the contract?
