mo mo,

Gussy has recently fitted a set of Megan headers to his MY02 and has been impressed with the quality and performance. AndyF showed me a set and for the price, I dont think you could go wrong.

If you are speaking to Andy re: your Tek3, why not ask about the headers at the same time.

Cheers

Martin

Did either of you guys who havw fitted these headers have the car mapped after fitting? What was the difference you found?

Do you run a standard or aftermarket ECU?

Gus had his car remapped by AndyF (Tek3) and fitted a TD05. It goes really well, no figures yet though.

I bought a set direct from the states for £175 delivered. Provided they bypass HM Customs (as at least one set already has done) that's a significant saving on the 'UK' price.

Ok, so they don't have a slip-joint in the cross pipe. If mine break i'll have them repaired and refitted.

Andy.F reckons the earliest-spooling FETD05 he's mapped was on a set of Megan headers. We'll find out just how good they are when i get home on the 22nd and get remapped on the 12th.

Carl,
I have a funny feeling Andy was on about my car, when he was mapping it he said at the time that the tdo5fe was spooling up a lot quicker than normal if I remember rightly it was at 2800.

I have a FETD05 and meagan racing headers on my Euro MY99 GT - full boost at around 3200-3400 rpm!

The uppipe is MASSIVE compared to the ie. HKS uppipe - as I recall it's 2 1/4" and the HKS is the same size as OE but have a better flow.

Mine has an annoying whistling sould though, just as it's comming on boost, that might be that the header needs to be ported...

What turbo's are you guys using with these headers? I'm thinking of buying a set before my remap with Andy F but dont want a late spool up. Mines a VF22 on an MY98 WRX and spools makes full boost at 3800-4000 at the moment. Just want a comparison first.

Carl, where did you get the headers from? Ebay? or direct from a supplier over there.

Cheers,

Wayne.

Supplier was found via eBay although it was not me who found them. I ordered direct from the in the States. Delivery took around 3 weeks.

40mm inlet ports.

52.4mm (2 1/16") up-pipe. Exhaust flanges aren't bad but the up-pipe flange leaves a nasty step so will have to work it out a little.

I haven't closely inspected the Customs slip but IIRC the value was marked as $10, so hopefully i'm clear in that department.

wayne,
In answer to your ealier question on my bugeye i have fitted one of Andy.fs td05 converted to fe he also ported it as well to help flow, before I fitted my megan headers I opened up the exhaust at the manifold flange to match the gaskets, the flanges were about 5mm smaller than the gaskets.

Got my headers today from Chris!!

Nice bloke with plenty of time to talk to you about your requirements.

The headers do look very good, shame I am wrapping them though!!

As for the cracking or associated problems, Chris has given me a full warranty for these, so for the money give them a go.

Contact Chris here

http://www.ccsperformance.co.uk/

I will report back regarding performance/fitting etc.

can you fit these without a remap?

what exactly does a set of headers and a better up pipe do for your car?
are the standerd parts really that restrictive?

Micky: The O/E headers are restrictive and porting them will give better spool and possibly add to the boost marginally. There should also be a mid range power benefit.
Well designed tubular headers will add noticably to the power, particularly at the top end but this is usually achieved by a reduction in spool. Typically in my experience 300 rpm later. Alot will depend on the turbo you have fitted and how well designed the tubular headers are. I should add I have no first hand experience of the Megan.

How have these megan headers affected the scooby sound? Do they change it much?
