Micky,

Do you want to try my old ported headers when I have taken them off?

Just the postage and you can have them.

BTW, ported by me and not Harvey, so maybe not as good as what he offers.

Chris, i began fitting mine to my MY98 UK today.

I presume you fit them with the aid of a set of ramps but is there a knack to slipping the up-pipe into position? It took two of us a good 20 minutes to wiggle it into place with the car on axle stands. We had to take the weight off the O/S engine mount amongst other things just to create a large enough gap.

Also, have you found the up-pipe to be a fraction short? I haven't bolted it up yet but unbolted mine is a good 3/8" short from the mounting brackets - see pic.

I presume this is because they've been sitting in a box for the past X months? I'm a little concerned i'm going to be putting strain on the flexi-joint when i do finish the job.

One more thing (promise) - do you tighten the manifold-head studs to a specific torque setting?

Micky, it will be a couple of weeks before they come off.

Difference was this

Smoother, better breathing at the top end, more low down torque but with a slightly later spool (200rpm ish)

Not bad though.

Fitted my headers today!!

Wow!! Absolutely superb all round. Fitting is a breeze as soon as you realise that the headers need rotaing to get the up-pipe through the gap and then repositioning is easy. They also look like they are no where near the bracket that holds the turbo, but the bolts pull everything together nicely.

Sound is awesome, as Chris mentioned above.

Power is definately up, even before my remap with spool being no later than before with ported headers. The lag when changing gear is less.

One problem though! I nearly died from the fumes given off from the painted heat wrap!!! Got some really worried looks from passers by when stood at a junction!!!

Just for info, my AFR hasnt changed at all and I have no knocklink activity, just as before.

Have you changed the downpipe at the same time?

The megans are very thin wall compared to Gruppe-s or GT spec, 1.2mm compared to 1.6mm. More like normally aspirated headers rather than turbo spec.
The collector also doesn't have an inverted cone like the higher spec headers, this can only hurt flow rates.

Did not change the downpipe at that time. Was allready changed.

Trying with new gaskets, but it sounds to me like it coming from the flex joint... But dosn't seem to be leaking..

You get what you pay for.. And I also messured the header walls, and Andy is right. BUT it's still cheap and a good mod I think.

Fitting was also really easy to me, once i figured out how the da.. thing was supposed to turn to get the uppipe in place

You get what you pay for.

GT-Spec, Gruppe-s or similar for me at the moment.
