Is the STI-7 and STI-8 PPP the same?
If not does anyone know what the differences are ?
When a PPP is fitted is the std ECU remapped or is a new one fitted ?

Exchange ECU IIRC.

I think the features and details of the mapping are slightly different.

sti7 was a piggyback ecu while sti8 was an ecutek remap-much better with prodrive evolving the map into a detuned wr1 map,the later the map you get the better the smoothness,power ,economy etc the 05 map is spot on,drive different versions and see what you feel mt

 

Early MY02 PPP's were piggyback, but later ones were ecutek remaps. (Mine was)

Mine was done in April 2003

 

So presumably if you get a MY02 PPP'd now, it is the remapped ECU not the piggy back? Would like to know for sure as otherwise might as well go for Tek 3 and 'other' exhaust.

 

We didn't do a PPP for an STi 7 as that was JDM only.........

The 02MY STi package is the same as 03/04/05MY in hardware, the only difference is that the mapping is based on the right base ROM file for the appropriate model year.

So if I could get hold of the exhaust and uprated fuel pump could I get Prodrive or a Subaru dealer to remap the ECU ?

(I have the 18" wheels as AFAIK they are recommended if you PPP)

you have to buy the kit as a whole iirc

 

If I had the prodrive exhaust and pump (I can get these) could I get the ECU TEK3 remapped and would the dealer be able to tell ?
