my wife was driving my beloved on tuesday, when she was fish-tailed by some **** who had missed his junction on the m1 motorway...!!!!the scoob spun a couple of times from the outside lane into the middle lane and into a wagon travelling in the inside lane...the car front went into the wagon just after the unit ( where the cow guard is ) ripping this off it threw her back out into the road ( still spinning ) until she came to a stop facing the on-coming traffic!!!!!!!!!! thankfully wifey is ok.. subaru is f-knackered,panel damage alway round including a-post,n.s.f is non-existant ( plastic inner wing is visible ) gouge marks up the bonnet ( from the cow guard ) even ripped the bonnet scoop off, most windows smashed and more!!!!!!!!! police say the scooby saved her life....they could not believe that someone got out of the car ok...well apart from bruising, aches and pains and burns from the seat belt!!!!!!! all hail the subaru..king of cars!!!!!

Wow, that sounds like a massive accident.
Can take a bit of time to get over, sounds like the stuff for flashbacks. I had them for about 6 months after flipping a car end over end on the M6. Felt invincible when I got out the car, started to shake about an hour later !
Modern cars, so much better. I got a letter from MIRA after the accident requesting details to put in a database on crash protection to help it improve further. They saved our lives.

As somebody already said, the car can be replaced. Glad your wife is ok, thats the main thing.
Atleast she realises that it was the scoob that probably saved her life.
A T*At in a black lexus did exactly the same to me yesterday afternoon, on the turn off for the slip road for the m1 on the m62 eastbound.
Straight across the chevrons, with about 5-10 metres to spare b4 the barriers. His car was nearly bloody sideways with the speed and agression he swerved infornt of me.
I had my 3 month old daughter in the car and he was about 5 foot from taking the front of my car out.
I tried to chase the guy but lost him on the roundabout..... if i would have caught him i would have beaten him to within an inch of his life the bloody F*ckwit, could have caused a serious incident and injured my 3 month old daughter!!!

Whilst I appreciate your concerns etc and having your daughter in the car.
Perhaps "chasing" the guy wasn't the most clever thing to do, especially with your daughter in the car.

I just wanted to understand one detail, though. I thought that fishtailing was what rear-wheel-drive cars did under high-power, grip-limited acceleration (you used to see Indycars doing it a lot). That obviously doesn't apply in this case - so what do you mean by 'she was fishtailed'????
Sorry if this is a thick question!

hi m8.... the scoob was hit on the o.s.r quarter...which then put it into a spin. ( like the american police video coverage programmes on sky..when they want to stop the car they are persuing this seems to be a common manoevre for the police over there???
i suppose it was a cross between a side-swipe and been fish-tailed.....
again thanks from us both for the interest...replies and p.m
cheers Peppe......

Can second all those comments about scoob being a safe bet in an impact, saved my life whilst spinning on the wrong side of a dual carriageway, hit by an oncoming car impact speed 80mph side on, I survived.
The macabre guys at recovery compounds always have a sweep satke on fate of occupants in cars they see post impact (apparently), I was marked as expired with damage to my car, but not, a fractured sternum and a week in hospital was all I got.
Glad all are well comparatively I went straight out to get another scoob as well.
