No not Flamed at all

Neither Car is is designed for 0-60 or 1/4 mile drag Racing the difference is a Subaru does simular times in the Wet or Twisties

I would imagine your Classic STiV5 with 313Bhp would beat a Newage WR1 320Bhp because of the Power to weight ratio. With the obvious weight disadvantage of the WR1 shows it no slowcoach

Comfort, Strength and speed te WR1 is a Top motor. IMHO

1. it is not worth racing on the road, see the darren cooper thread

2. The difference between most impreza drag racing performances is down to driver skill, and being able to pull away without bogging down.

3. If the power figures were as you stated and with driver skill being equal you should absolutely trounce a WR1 in a straight line, with a 200kg weight advantage.

100% agree with Adam

In addition, nothing can be derived from road driving regarding the overall performance of a car.

Serious question Si

I've always wondered why do car mags road test cars to give an indication of performance?

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion(and for some this is a duh!) that cars such as the WR1/T25 etc are a lot less fun on the road simply because the limits are so high and the car is so capable you need to be driving dangerously to get the same kind of enjoyment one would get from a slower, but more 'chuckable' car.

WR1 is great fun you just need some RW drive experience I think to get the best from it

Believe me Daz when I first saw one and the pictures and stuff I really didnt like the colour.
It really does grow on you.
Whenever I have had an option on a car colour in the past it has been a nightmare choosing.
One option is far easier

Probably nothing in it. As ever, cars this close on ability are let down by the driver i.e. a slight delay in gear change and that .3 of a second on paper is gone

WR1 is an awesome car. What is good (and an 05 PPP Sti would be the same I think) is to enable you to stay on the heat for longer and importantly, reliably.

My classic, when out on a run, would begin to complain (and blow MAF sensors).

I have no idea what the figures are, but both cars I feel have that extra bit of oomph over the ton mark when others fade off.

Anyway, I drive slowly on them Roman designed roads and accelerate on the Saxon designed ones

I'd be happy with either car.

interesting, in all seriousness, I do 120miles a day and always get the commander showing a peak rpm of 6300+ and a peak boost of a smidge over 1.3bar
with over 100k miles on the ol odometer it must be down to the way the car is spec'd/mapped I guess.

Dunno. The classic (bogo standard 2000 Turbo I had) was all fine and dandy. But give it an hour on cook mode and it complained. 20 mins fine. Hour, not fine.

WR1 doesn't complain, probably down to the fact (guessing again) that I don't need to keep it on the boil to stay in front.

Love both though!
