Question how much should i sell it for...

...going to be putting a turbo engine in my sport soon and i need to know how much i could realistically get for mine...

i have a 2001 limited edition sport thats done 26000 miles. it had its first mot nearly a year ago

suggestions welcome

You'd be better off buying a turbo to be honest as you then get all the upgraded components..

yeah but sara has the yellow ltd edition so it would be worth it as for price for the engine who knows? ebay it. £2 - £300?

i knew the colour of my car would come up lol

just think someone could own a part of me

i thought it would fetch more than that......what if i paint the engine yellow as well

i think your off your rocker if you put a turbo engine in a sport special. Talk about a quick way to ruin its value. It will drive pants, it doesnt have the correct transmition system, clutch, rear diff, no rear ARB........... to work well as a turbo car. Your insurance company will screw you over too.

If you want a turbo, flog the sport special and buy a turbo, to do an engine transplant is not a sensible option IMHO.

i have no plans to sell the car on so am not worried about the value, will be upgrading the brakes, clutch etc, why will it drive like pants

there is also a conversion i am considering..more personalised, havnt decided what way i am going to go with this yet

I seem to remember Scoobyclinic did turbo charge a sport. I saw a pale silvery blue classic in Febuary and commented to one of the blokes that I had never seen that colour on a turbo before. He said they had done it but it was a bit pricey.


Not much help but I guess if you contact the clinic they might be able to let you know what they did.

it is not just the engine you will end up changing, you would end up changing brakes ?tyres for 17" if not already on bigger brakes,suspension etc it would be so costly and so much hassle eg insurance it would be cheaper to buy a turbo and paint it that colour

i would have thought that sport conversions were the obvious way to go.
i paid a very good price for my car and got my body kit for nothing, so i dont mind spending a little bit on my car

did someone mention the clinic were having problems

I think the suggestion is that subaru have spent millions in R&D to make sure everything works well together, they make the tolerences, they decide the spec.

were someone else to do it (other than subaru) then you take a chance, and, invariably they dont behave so well.

the costs of this alone would be prohibitive wouldnt they?
as mentioned, clutch, gearbox?, extra electrics/sensors, engine itself, oil pump, turbo etc etc etc
cost of a custard cream respray of a turbo car? £1500?

if youve saved a shed load on your car then this will offset the respray costs somewhat.
one can only assume you want to keep the car for the colour, as any other bits would be transplanted from sport to turbo before sport sale.

If you are interested in the conversion you might as well have a chat with them as I am sure they have already done atleast one sport.

Might be an idea to get a quote for the insurance first. You could end up with the crazy situation where you end up paying more than you would if you just bought a turbo.

Scoobyclinic have indeed done a trubo conversion, but it wasn't a sport according to Adam, it was on a GL!!!! I'm converting my sport but not to a turbo . Sarah, speak to N_W_S who is doing a turbo conversion himself Personally, I'd buy a turbo if you want 1.

Sara; its a totally different car in everything but appearance. Buy a cheap Turbo if thats what you want.

what about insurance. I am sure it will be easier to insure a turbo as a turbo than a sport with turbo conversion? Just a thought btw

Get a full quote to have it done and get an insurance quote. It will soon put you off.

Cheapest solution by a long long way is to buy a turbo and have it sprayed the same colour as your sport.

make sure and get high temperature paint or it will just burn off the turbine side

What about some new internals, flowed head, wild cam, complete exhaust and throttle bodies.

Get 200bhp without the turbo Imagine how nice that engine would sound
