Scooby or cupra r?
i'm trying to do the maths just. but still cant decide... i wasnt even thinking of a scooby until i seen a new one in garage, now i think cupra r looks more like a skoda!! In saying that i took a cupra r with remap (270bhp) for a test drive a few weeks back and the accelation was like getting punched in the head very quick. I was out in a wrx yesterday and it didnt feel that quick so now i dont know. I think the guy who took me out yesterday was holding back though.
Chubbz what about reilablity in the cupra?

yip your right mate but what im getting at is this mod on the cupra cost £400 for an extra 50 bhp. Can you remap a scooby for that kind of money?

I had a 180bhp Leon Cupra for 2 years. My mpg record was 36mpg for a tank, but it was a one off. Usually got around 32mpg. Enthusiastic driving sent the mpg down to mid to high teens.
If you are thinking of a modded one you won't achieve those figures unless you drive with an egg under your right foot.
It was perfectly reliable during those 2 years.

I thought the VAG 5 cyl 1.8t engine is supposed to be a bit....er average?
And yes 270bhp through the front would be....er interesting?
How come you did't drive the WRX only the dealer?
As already disscussd on SN upgrading a car seems to cost a lot more insurance than buying a faster standard car in the first place!

From: Please excuse my Spelling - its not the best !!
being thinking of a cupra r (with remap) instead of a new Scooby (with ecutek), main think that puts me off the Cupra is the fact that they dont hold their value well (not that the scooby does !). Which is worse depreiator (SP??) between thw two

Think it depends how long you keep it - the Seat plastics look a bit cheap to me (cheaper than newage Scoobs IMHO). May end up getting rattles and stuff with the Seat??
Most petrols will suffer crap mpg when being ragged...
What about a VAG TDI ?? We've got a Fabia vRS which is really punchy as long as its not wet. Think they do a lesser model Fabia estate which you could get remapped??
I went from GT TDI Golf to Scoob because I NEEDED a Scoob - would I do it again?? mmmm can't answer that
