Just bought this:






This is for my MY02 STI.

In the above pics is the connector block.

Any ideas where this plugs into ?

The manual is all in JAP, and there are no obvious pictures.

doesnt you car already have intercooler water spray-i acquired an auto switch for £20 and now have jdm auto spray

If its an STi you should have an auto water spray, the manual one is for show really and you wont need it in winter, but in summer i went though my 12ltr water tank in less than 1k miles

MY STI has a manual button.

I'm guessing that I plug this connector somewhere behind the dash probably near the button ?

 

It wouldnt be a case of disconnecting the plug on the manual button switch and plugging it into the Do-Luck could it? seems logical to me.

 

It could well be. Just looked at the jap instructions again, and it may actually plug directly into the ECU. I'll be looking this afternoon

 

ok, had the dash out.

The connector to the manual button is different, plus the instructions say that the manual button stays in place and still works, so this connector must plug into a socket somewhere.

I've looked behind the dash and also behind the glovebox and can't find anything.

I know where to connect the seperate 'white cable' as this taps into the ecu boost cable to read the boost pressure.

I guess if I can't find the relevant socket I could always hard wire it; power/ground to power it, and then power/ground to trigger the spray ?

 

OK, had a reply from one of the resellers in Germany:

" To the right of the glove box you have a cover. Take that away and you'll find a plug with 'Spray controller' written on it."

So, next spare hour I get I'll be having a look for the 'cover'.

I was thinking along the same lines, I've got an STI7 and was wanting an automatic spray controller rather than the crap push button which you never use.

Could you tell me where you got the do-luck controller and how much was it? does it have its own temp sensors or does it all work on the oem sensors?

Got the Do-Luck ISC from ebay USA for £60 ! bargain, however SumoPower are the sellers in the UK. £120ish I think.

Basically it has a connector block (which I'm trying to find where to plug it in) and one other cable which taps into the ECU and reads the boost. (I have the ECU pin outs for the 02 STI if you need them).

so thats basically it. Then you select the desired boost trigger on the box and off you go. Oh, and the manual button still works if you need it to.

the reason I went for this over the JDM auto button, is that the JDM button keeps the waterspraying until the button is released, so its not a trigger based button like the JDM cars are.

I'll post back once I have found this pesky socket behind the glovebox....

Found where to plug it in !!

behind the glovebox to the left hand side are two black connector blocks. The one to the left has I/C relay written in it - LOL !

Plugged it in.

Do-Luck box lights up.

Manual Water Spray button still works.

Now need to tap into the ECU Boost Pressure sensor output. I got the ECU pin outs from Bob Rawle in pdf form. But on the list it doesn't exactly say boost pressure. I have found the pins that say 'pressure'. This is connector B135 terminal 19.

Just need to know if this is the pin to tap ?

 

i think it is the maifold presure sensor or (MAP) sensor is the wire you need from the ecu! would check with bob!

So, from this, I assume they are the same but worded differently a few years ago.

So, I am going to tap into the sensor this weekend and see how it goes
