suspension too hard , sound familiar ??

Just bought a MY04 STI PPP with prodrive springs (10,000 miles), had the car two weeks and I find the ride way to hard, like bone shaking back numbing hard! The car is bouncing all over the place, I am having to constantly correct the steering, its getting to the stage where I see a pothole or whatever and I am not looking forward to the experience,!! its also forever trying to constantly self centre its self as well and just feels I am battling with the car all the time,
Now I know it’s a performance car but its really detracting from the overall enjoyment of the car,
Would geometry set up help?
Is there something wrong with it?
anybody else had these problems
or is it just the way the cars set up

Nope sounds bang on to me!

Soon to be tranformed by the clinic
Eibachs, White Line F\R ARB's drops links.... MMMMmmmmmm can't wait!
I followed a porker around a large roundabout, it was flat and i was on my ear!

The Eibach springs are no stiffer so fitting them will just cost you extra money for no improvement

Do you still have std wheels and tyres fitted? Removing the std tyre makes a huge difference. If you get a chance to have a go in a car with 18's fitted you will notice a huge improvement.

Weird... I have Eibach springs on my '05 JDM car and it's too hard. The original Japanese-spec springs are even harder so I got the Eibachs as a 'quick fix', but I think I'll be going for a fully adjustable setup next year.

BVM to leave the Prodrive springs on, and just do the White Line F\R ARB's drops links you will find a Marked improvement
Go for an adjustable one
be carefull on the hardest setting the back can get a bit skitish IMHOTony
Ps Had Eibach's on my MY02STi from new
and 12 months later had them replace with Prodrive springs a vast improvement

That said, I'm moving away from the Goodyears with my next set - going to try Proxes T1-R - as the Goodyears are a little prone to sidewall damage IMHO.

That's because it's sat on the front bumpstops. The 05 STi has reduced front bump travel in order to package the 235/45x17 tyre so fitting springs designed for earlier cars just won't work.

Mine can be a bit bouncy (MY03 JDM STi Spec C), but then again it absorbs those bumps very nicely 
(plus did i mention that it has its own suspension setup compared to other STi's?
)

First, check your tyre pressures. They should be 33psi (F) and 31psi (R).
If that doesn't help, it sounds like the front bump stops (supplied as part of our suspension package) may not have been changed when the springs were fitted.
There should be a sticker in your vehicle's hand book stating that the front bump stops have been changed.
I would suggest getting your dealer to check whether these have been fitted and also to check your geometry settings.

I will try tyre pressures , the car came with the recommended pressures in the handbook (32 f /28 r ) if not I will get back in touch with the dealer ,I don't have the sticker in the handbook for the bumpstop ,
determined to get this sorted out I love the car otherwise
anyone know where to get geometry checked in Yorkshire ???

I think the Eibach oand prodrive are very close to each other "if not the same rebadged"...
thanks for the advice on the rear ARB... I'll have it just stiff enough to dial out the understeer... that way i don'tlook silly anymore doing the old Scandinavian into even slow speed corners...

i have upped the tyre pressures to 33psi front and 31 psi rear and its virtually elminated all the bouncing and feels a lot better now
going to get the geomtry done at scooby clinic and i should be a happy bunny

The metal bits are exactly the same
We develop all our own suspension settings. Eibach simply make them to our settings......
Eibach use their own settings for their own branded springs (which are usually deveoped in Germany)

I've got Prodrive springs on my bugeye and it's a lot better ride once you get used to it being slighly stiffer. I'd done the rear droplinks before the springs which slightly tightened up the rear roll and then the big change was the Whiteline adjustable rear ARB after the springs
- I've got it set on the middle position and it's a nice compromise - the back end can feel light if you really screw up the braking into a corner but other than that 
I orginally had the springs put on to get rid of some of the floatiness / wallowing - they help but even with the other items fitted, I still notice some front dive as the mass transfers - I guess this is more likely to be compliance in the suspension bushes or a damper issue for general NVH comfort so I'm going to have to put up with it... (plus, I know that springs don't damp
)
