Hi all,

I while ago I found out that my nice '97 Impreza sport had been crashed, repaired cheaply before I bought it. Oh in case your wondering I did buy it from a Subaru dealer and not (1)Importer (2) dodge dealer!

I got a AA report on the car and they wrote it off! So I was not a happy camper to say the lest, brought car back to dealer got all my money back :-) (without too much trouble)

Anywhy, I currently driving a Polo 1ltr (yes 1 litre), its cheap on petrol, insure etc, but its doing my head in!

Can anyone suggest a good car thats cheap to run and insure but will move when I push the load pedal, I was thinking of a toyota starlet turbo!

Evethough I'm from Israel and I don't know which cars are imported to England...I suggest you'd go on one of the following..

- Honda CIVIC VTI (1.6 , 172 bhp)
- Peugeot 106 GTI / Rally (1.6 , 125 bhp)
- Fiat punto HGT (new punto, 1.8, 130 bhp - a great car, cheap and very economic)
- VW polo 16v (1.4 , 105 bhp)
- Seat IBIZA (cupra II)
- Mitsubishi COLT (1.6 , 110 bhp)
- Renault CLEO RS (new, 2.0, 172 bhp)
They are all great cars...
I hears the starlet is pretty much OK but doesn't equal the performance to the punto, CIVIC, or the IBIZA.

If your over 25 buy yourself a
Sierra RS Cosworth or even better
a RS500.On classic insurance.

I don't know what your price bracket is, but I sold my Nissan Almera GTI P reg for 5.5k recently (admittedly with highish mileage).

OK they look awful but go and handle really well (different league to the focus I had which is suppposed to handle ok).

They always used to come 2nd in GTI tests to the Pug 306 GTI, which was 3k more expensive (and lacking the 3 yr warranty).

You get a bland Jap interior, which you should be used to, + CD and aircon.

Mine was 100% reliable and just felt like it would never go wrong.

I was quite sad to see it go, more than compensated for by the scoob tho!

I reckon they are bargains for people who can overlook the lack of image. Still you have the added bonus of surprising people with what it can do!
