There' a 2.5 T avalaible that doesn't need PPP, has decent brakes, interior and a 6 spd:

Seriously considering one of these following the write-up in Evo a couple of month's ago - they loved it. Seriously quick for a sit-up and beg load lugger. Spec looks pretty good as well - leather, sat nav, climate control and a huge sunroof.

PS - Edited to say that I'm pretty sure there's a UK car available with similar performance but without all the STi bits.

sort of - the 2.5XT.

But, as you say, it doesn't have all the STi bits. It's got a 5 speed box rather than 6, it's down on power, and is virtually as expensive as the Sti. On the other hand, you get an official Subaru UK 3 year warranty and UK dealer support.

I dare say that Prodrive are working on a PPP upgrade for the 2.5XT.

Prodrive are working on a PPP for the 2.5Xt. No idea on figures yet, but a sub 6 second to 60 is well on the cards. Which, considering the shape, weight and gearing of the car makes it an excellent Q-Car.

Since 17 wheels are recommended for the 03/04 PPP, I strongly suspect the 2.5l XT PPP will need them too, which will put up the price some.

 

You'll need to factor in the cost of some 4 pots for the fronts too. Certainly the USDM / OZ 2.5XT still comes with feeble stoppers ....

So it'll be £1600/£2000 for PPP but then £1200 for the wheels & tyres, £1600 for brakes that'll work, on top of the £24.5 k for the std XT....
I think the STi still has it.

I still prefer the UK 2.5 XT, the STi is certainly impressive but with all the add-ons it looks like it should go as fast as it does so it loses a lot of it's Q-car appeal, the 2.5XT looks like it would be positively agricultural - until you give it some gas.....

Trying to book my 24 hour test drive at the moment - so much for two hours to get back to me....
