Yikes - 20k and pads all round!
Hi,
Just had my MY04 wagon through its 20k service and had to have all 4 pads changed - that cant be normal? Service guy wasnt too worried, also said second set of tyres wont last til next service.
Can you tell its a leased car ;-)
Stupid question, but does the AWD make any difference to pad wear? Im usually quite light on brakes (heal and toe braking), but this thing murders them. Bloody good fun doing it though!!!!
Cheers

Suggest you uprate pads & discs
Front tyres (Eagle F1's) lasted 4,500 miles ......
So...... Get used to it
nowt to do with 4wd mate ..... Its a very heavy car being hauled down from high speeds with big brakes. Think yourself lucky you got 20K out of them. Try using it on the track a set will last a weekend if your lucky.
Dont bother uprating them they will just eat them quicker ....

You're doing well m8. Most people get lots less miles on pads. Thing I've noticed is pads wear nearly same on rear as on front unlike FWD. I usually reckon 20K for fronts on FWD we have. Funny though on the Scoob all pads still original and good after 29K. I find the scoob goes round corners so well I don't need the brakes till silly speeds. You will wear tyres cos of good traction which encourages you to "boot it" and again wear is more equal than FWD. Are you swapping F to R every say 5K to even out wear?

20K sounds good to me for any car.
My old mans old Rover 216 auto used eat pads every 10-12K
And that wasn't driven hard. Strangely it never ate the discs, so they must have been mega soft pads

Oh - and I thought 20k was alarming!
Must admit, that I generaly travel a lot faster in this than any other car Ive owned, but I never used to drive gently. My Alfa156 used front pads at 30k, never touched the rears in around 65k total ownership.
Like I said, Its a leased car - Im not paying (well apart from an almighty tax code
so I'll carry on smiling!

think it makes a difference if its your own car. If I owned my wrx, then I guess I too would get 115k out of pads, tyres, tank of fuel etc. But seeing as its a company car it has to work for its living!
I got 15k out of the 1st set of tyres, which considering they were at 4mm by 8k isnt bad (I let off a bit when I saw how quickly they were going!).
Thinking about it, I bet Im also going to need a new set of disks next time? Previous cars Ive had used disks every other set of pads, at least where the pads didnt contain asbestos!
Didnt appreciate how expensive scooby ownership would be - I suppose thats true of all performance cars though...
