Question to people with flamer kits
Just fitted one on my UK300. I have a full decatted Blitz exhaust, Forge atmospheric dump valve, and the flamer kit all hooked up and ready to flame................. Is it usual for them not to flame straight away, or do I need to do something else?
Please, I'm not interested in people's arguments against flamer kits, just from people's experience from people who have them.
Thanks
Steven

Mine flamed straight away but I have heard tales of them taking while, no idea why.
Mine only regularly flames when changing gear at high revs....that said I've never revved it up outside McDoobys to see what happens.

Biggest issue is if there is a cat in the way - e.g. in the up-pipe? Second issue is whether you are getting sparks to the backbox spark plug - you have got it turned on etc? After that, VTA dump valves (like you have) help, as do ECU maps that don't include over-run fuel cut-off . . .
The plug is definately sparking. When turned on there is a light buzzing and a blue spark. The spark isn't very big so I was going to either replace the spark plug with a 3 prong plug or widen the gap on the spark plug. I haven't replaced the up pipe, so I suppose the cat in there isn't helping. I'm running Optimax, but do different fuels make any difference?
weird, wonder y it aint working,a m8 of mine who is on here has 1 fitted
and when he was 'showing off' recently i did notice he got it warm 1st
then the flames just got bigger and better as it got warmer
that was on a 97 classic uk turbo . .

It does have to be nicely warmed up first. Also, when I first fitted mine it took about a day before it started flameing.
You definately need to be fully decatted. Your catted up-pipe is catching the unburnt fuel before it gets to the plug.
Ahh... if you still have your std Downpipe in place you have got two hopes.
The downpipe combined with the up pipe will reduce pretty much all of the fuel coming out of the exhaust.

There is a cat in a standard down-pipe, but thought you said you'd got a Blitz decat exhaust? If you still have the standard up and downpipe, they both have cats in, and I'd bet my mortgage against you ever getting flames with them still in place!!!!
Change the up and down-pipe, you'll love the difference in performance, will make more noise too - especially when booting it.
