Default Another remap query - Gearbox related

I think I'm trying to invent problems recently but was wondering about the following.

Andy F is going to supply and remap an Apexi pcf in a couple of weeks. Now I'm concious that at some point in the next couple of months I may have to change the gearbox in my UK97. Its not that bad at the moment, just a bit clunky when cold which nevertheless still bugs me. So after some advice I've decided to look for a WRX box which will suit my requirements.

Given that the map will be specific will there be a need for an adjustment when/ if a new box is fitted due to the different ratios?

have you tried changing the oil in the box?

Castrol Syntrax improved mine when cold no end.

Tried it mate with a little improvement.

As I say its not that bad-i just think it detracts from the driving experience slightly. Its done 82k now so can imagine its pretty worn. Extra horses wont be doing it any favours and recently had to replace the clutch.

Fancy experimenting a little with a different box (no gags please) Just need to find one cheap enough I guess. Last thing I want is to put a different one in to find its worse than the one I actually had originally.

so to your question.. obviously check with Andy when he remaps it but you are unlikely to cause a problem change the box with regard to the map, boost might come in differently but the lower ratios are likely to cause lower boost in lower gears (if any change) rather than higher so unlikely to cause a problem.

you need to match the rear diff with the new box though..

lol @ no box gags..
