Default 6-speed, what a dream :-)

Hi all

Just wan't to share this happy day with you all.

Some time ago I ordered a 6-speed JDM box with David (API). Originally I was looking for a UK spec box, since I have the 7K RPM limit, but they were hard to get, so I ended up with the JDM spec. The box arrived here in Denmark in the start of the week and I must say, driving the scoob with it is just a dream. I have combined it with a Fidenza flywheel and an Exedy clutch and for me this combination is just perfect. I see now that my big worry about the difference in gearing was'nt worth spending any time on, this is just a super box!

Big thanks to David (API) for sorting a total kit with box, rear diff and clutch :-)

Just had 6speed fitted but dont need to use lift up reverse, slides straight across, and if in a hurry can go past 5th due to no gate system! do you have the same problem or have you sorted this? if so, how?

That's not too bad I suppose. I may settle for a JDM box instead of looking for a UK box.

Cheers!

If you ask me, then go for it :-)

The good thing about this is also that since there are more JDM boxes on the market, the chance of ending up with an old worn one is smaller.

The one I got from API was in more than prestine condition, it looked all new!

The only problem I can see is if your trying to do 150mph+ with JDM box or seeking that elusive 200mph!

They are afterall designed with ratios for a market whereby they are limited to 112mph.

LOL....I spend most of my time on the UK's back country roads so absolute top speed isn't a consideration - I see ~130 thingy 'ma bobs max! Acceleration is what I need . It'd be nice to be able to cruise at motorway speeds though without too much ear ache - from the wife as well as the car

You can get a JDM/UK 6 speeder, but the price is high and you may have to wait. Just gives you more time to save (a lot).
Guess what I'm doing.

When I was looking 3/12 I found 3 UK boxes but wanted a JDM. They can be found, one place in Sheffield had 2 late sti for breaking and one guy in York had one.

Put an ad in the wanted section and usually you'll find one.

lol Go for 200mph+ in a scoob would be quality. Half the bl**dy bits will fall off.

I was finding Jap and Uk 6 speed at the same prices. I had the choice of Jap and Uk and went for Jap in the end

The flywheel is working wonders, there was no point in being worried about that if you ask me.
The starts are a little more tricky, but it's wonderfull once your off!!

Cheers mate. Think I have changed my mind about 10 times already!

4.2kg flywheel is going on then.

Can I have my flywheel back now then?
