The Ugliest Fast Car of ALL time!!

WHSmiths have a book in their reduced section called 'Fast Cars' - it has a list at the back of the UGLIEST, FASTEST, etc.

And the Bug-Eye Impreza is classed as the Ugliest Fast Car of ALL Time .... has anyone actually managed to sell one for more than the price of a Classic of 2000 (W/X Reg.) vintage?

I must be in a minority but I quite like the look of it now, I think it has aged well
plus you cant see it when your driving it

blob is nothing to look at - headlamps too dominant - arches could be a bit more competition inspired too...

Hate mine too So much so that I've only done 70000 miles in 3 years

I don't think any Impreza is going to win a beauty contest to be honest

Unfortunately I don't 'behold' it any more, and as for the selling price, I sold mine bog standard except the headlights, suspension and lip spoiler for £13k.

Nor do I. My bugeye is still as it was when it came from the factory, I didnt buy it for its looks.

Having browsed auto-trader recently, I am so glad that I bought a W-reg Classic instead of a 51 plate bug eye.
Subaru really screwed bug eye owners when they were clearing out the last bug eyes at heavily reduced prices.

 

Problem is, it's not even fast.

So, its ugly and its slow. Right then.

At least they are better value second hand. I don't think the current model is a huge improvement in the styling dept. And although the classic is a bit better in many ways I don't like the 80's Nissan Cherry interior which I'd be looking at more than the exterior.

Like some others I quite like the front end now. I thought I'd get some Morrettes asap when I bought it, now I'm not sure it's worth the expense.

It's no looker but in years to come I think we'll look back fondly at the bugeye and wonder what all the fuss was.

Most of the fuss was for no good reason. "It's ugly" was the main cry... wake up! You drive an Impreza MK1, it's the ******* twin brother of the Hyundai Accent! Not what you'd call an oil painting. "It's slow" was the other cry... wake up! A-B there's nothing in it. The old shape might have a tad better power to weight, but the new version has a much better chassis. I bought mine because it was an improvement over my old one, and it still is.
