Talking TYPE R/RA STI HELP AND CONFIRM

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm something for me.

is there a WRx STI TYPE RA 2 DOOR SPECIAL EDITION

I have looked at the sidc faq and it is listed but it states it has a rally style roof event, ive just been out in one that is listed as a wrx sti type ra 2 door with air con and electric windows and central locking.

If this is true what is the difference between the type r sti and the type ra sti 2 door??

All this type this and version this is confusing me and i used to own one!!!

Cashy

Theres no such thing as a 2 door Sti type RA, these are 4 doors. Type R's are the only 2 door models (except 22b, p1 and US market car called RS).

Also V-limited cars usually have the air con, and elec windows can be fitted as options.

There is indeed a 2 door WRX Type RA, it was produced from 97 to 00 as a limited edition version 4 car. It is not an STi, it has the WRX drivetrain (7500 redline, 280ps, no driver controlled centre diff). As power junkie says, it can be identified from the model code GC8?27D where ? is E, F or G for v4, 5 or 6 respectively. As a limited edition, it did include electric windows, air con etc.

The STi 2 door coupe is the type R, and the 4 door lightweight shell is the type RA, which is available in both WRX and STi form (confused?). The type R and type RA should both have the driver controlled centre diff, STi drivetrain and suspension.

[Ha ha i thought there would be a varied response to this thread.

Ok the car has the following code:

GC8F2DD

So this should be a Scooby WRX STI 5 V Limited 2 door type r, it has elect windows, air con and centre diff control, short ratio box but no roof flap/vent.

The 2 door coupe version is always called a TYPE - R which designates the 2 door shell

TYPE RA is always a 4 door

the TYPE R was produced as a WRX STi Type R and also a WRX Type R ( v - ltd) - NOT a type RA 2 door

1998.1 : V-limited.
The Impreza WRX Type-RA STi-4 V-limited package includes auto air conditioning, power window, powered door locks, electric door mirrors, a faster steering rack and front helical LSD. The Impreza WRX Type-R V-limited package includes STi engine that is the same as the Type-R STi, ABS, fog lamps, auto air conditioning, power windows, central locking, electric door mirrors, but no intercooler water splay.
The Impreza WRX Type-R STi V-limited package is the same as standard type-R STi except for the emblems and body colour.

I dont want to be pedantic but there are GC1 GC2 GC4 & GC6 2 door cars also. I bid on one only last week but it went for 50% more than I offered (£150)

There is a 2 door WRX Type RA - that was never in dispute, the dispute was that it was NOT a STi (which it was not!)

the WRX type R Coupe exists - but the specification seems a lot more akin to a standard WRX than a RA.

I found this on ravensblade

it is part of the STI parts list which lists all the applied model codes

produced 97 - 99

Im guessing that this was produced for rally homologation purposes - as it would be the least expensive base for a 2 door rally car
