Default Idle problem

Over the last few months, whenever I drove MY00 hard and came to a stop the idle would go up and down. Over 1000rpm to nearly staling before it leveled out to where it should be. I thought this was just down to me raggin it!
However, recently just driving the car normally mostly off the boost, it has started doing the same.
I remeber seeing a similar problem a few months ago on here, but can't remember the advise.
Any help appeciated, Cheers.

MAF commonly referred to as "air-flow sensor", etc...............sits in your intake pipe (or bolted to the airbox on early cars) before the turbo with the electrical plug in it!!

hope this helps.............alyn

Wink

One of the most common problems the old MAF or Lambda

Anyway do an ECU check, this may show up any ECU fault, Clicky

If it is the MAF its part no 22794AA010 Meter CP-Air Flow and should cost about 75 notes

As Mark just said,do a search.
IIRC If you do a reset(cant remember the procedure on the classics)disconnect the maf and it idles ok,then you reconnect it and it starts idling rough/stalling,then your MAF is faulty. If it makes no difference doing that, then its probably the lambda.
