that's awful news. as you, i dope it's not anyone from here. do let us know if anyone knows who he/she was.

Maybe as a mark of respect we should try and do something as a "group" thing - is there a way of doing a condolences thread & trying to send it to the family?

It's the train driver who I feel really sorry for The guy must have going through hell to go and do that but he doesn't have to live with it anymore like the poor train driver That guy will probably be in shock and affected for ages now If you are going to do yourself in don't involve anyone else

Totally agree with Paul - I was on a GNER train where the same thing happened. Saw the train driver being comforted by police. Poor guy was hysterical. Think about it - someone jumps onto the line in front of him - he'd doing up to, what, 150mph? - and there's not a THING he can do to stop the inevitable.

Been there too - it's not something I want to do again for a very long while. I was in the cab of a train when a guy chucked himself off the end of the platform at Milton Keynes.....

The job of a train driver is one I certainly couldn't do

How selfish!

He should of thought more about the impact of leaving his children fatherless and face up to his problems.

The cowards way out.

Is this the same fella who bought five thousand MAF censors at a ridiculously low price, only to find he had the wrong part number and had bought five thousand dimmer switches ?

Or was that someone else.

I can see your point of view but I know people who have almost been in the guys situation. Depression is one of the least understood illnesses, and can be caused by different things in different people. It can be a never ending vicious circle as the sufferer can't always see an obvious way to solve their problems.

Condolences, again, to all involved. They say it`s the cowards way out, but Jesus, that must take some doing! Couldn`t begin to think what would push a person to do something so extreme. R.I.P.

horrific for the train driver i agree, but I know how he must have felt - was almost there myself some years when with ex husband. i actually got as far as standign by the line, but was talked out of it in the end by a passer by. Wish I knew who they were, as I literally owe my life to him.

Think that some of the comments on this topic are a bit nasty as regards to the service comment. I know it was funny but My girlfriend has had to go thru a situation like this not that long ago and it was very upsetting for her so please could we keep these comments aside. We don't know the situation at hand and would hardly say that being a coward is a rational thing to say. RIP to a fellow scooby owner.
Regards

I know someone who's husband topped himself.........

She hates him for it, leaving her to explain to her kids why he did it?

What sort of effect do you think that has on kids?

No symapthy at all.....selfish.

Its easy and understandable to regard someone who does this extreme thing as selfish. However I think that when someone is this low they are very ill and not thinking or functioning reasonably or rationally. The real tragedy is that these people don't manage to get help to see a way out before the ultimate option becomes preferable. I would imagine that they are not able to consider other peoples feelings when they can't even rationalise their own.

Agreed, stuff would have to get pretty bad for one to consider that as an option.

I too, agree it's very selfish, more so that he chose to involve another person to commit his suicide.

Not only has he ruined his own family's lives, he has caused distress to the train driver and his family if he has any.

If they are intent on committing suicide - do it by hanging or an overdose and not involve a third party!

Hanging or Overdose?

Attempted suicide is a whole new topic. has to be final if at all.
