Default Air vents

I have a MY99 Scooby. Im just wondering why the air vents on the bonnet are covered under the bonnet. Is this the norm ? The covers look like they can be removed very easily. Has anybody removed them ?

Removed the drivers side to allow more air through the mini scoop for the air filter. Left the other one alone-worried about the battery etc.

It probably took a team of top designers 2 months to design those and you just take them off

if you have 22b bonnet vents with just a bit of mesh, you may want to put them back on before some burberry capped nova driving chappie puts his hand inside your bonnet and messes around with it.

I think we could do with a poll for who removes their bonnet vents during the summer and who doesn't

I haven't up until now but I might give it a go

I have 22B bonnet vents and have removed the backing plates, no problems with excess water or the battery being fiddled with, but then again I don't live in the crime capital of the world do I

Had my drivers side vent removed last summer and noticed no difference in car's performance - Left the passenger side alone partly because of battary and partly because I couldn't get the screw off!

It was my intention to remove / replace along with the clocks going forward / back but I haven't done it this year and I've not noticed any difference.

I'm sure I read somewhere that taking the vent off can increase the engine bay temp due to upsetting the airflow - you'd have thought the temp would have been lower but likely not...

I've removed both of mine for the summer. With the car idleing, you can feel the heat comming from the vents. It is even more noticable when the rad fans kick in. This can only be a good thing when sat in traffic etc.
