Default Getting ADSL BB installed

Hello

According to the BT website and adslguide.org.uk my exchange will finally be ADSL enabled on Aug 4th. Can I take this as 100% correct and go ahead with the set-up?

I don't want to enter into a contract with an ISP and then find out my exchange hasn't been upgraded.

Anyone else been in this situation? What did you do? Wait until a neighbour gets it first?

you cant enter into a contract with any ISP if you cant get ADSL! you can do a check at the ISP website if you can get ADSL with them.

As suba says, first thing ISP does when you apply is check whether ADSL is available on your exchange/number. Application will not proceed unless it is.

OK cheers

I guess I'm just so used to getting crap service in this country that I'm expecting things to go wrong. i.e.

me - my BB doesn't work
ISP - well it should
BT - yes your exchange is ADSL enabled
BT (after 5th call) - no your exchange is NOT enabled. We were on holiday that week. Sorry. Might get it done by Christmas
me - i'm not paying mr ISP
ISP - oh yes you are. It's not our fault
etc
etc..

lmao

BT are under a lot of pressure from the government to roll out BB as quickly as poss. Their timescale is probably accurate unless something goes badly wrong.

...and then BT tell me they have activated my ADSL at the exchange and I plug in the modem and nothing happens. I proceed to tear my PC apart as they say it is DEFINITLELY on. 2 weeks later they go 'oops sorry' and flick the switch! I go mental!

Dont trust the burgers!
