Wink Dealer drop-off. I nearly p***ed myself laughing

I recently droppped my MY04 into the dealer for its 10,000 mile service and gratefully accepted a lift back to work.
A baseball cap clad youth gave me a lift back and promptly told me how he'd driven loads of cars better than the Scooby. Most probably because I'm only 29 and driving an 04 PPP which cheesed him off a bit.

On questionning the extent of the oh so wisen one's experience of other 'better' cars he proceeded to tell me that he had driven the modded 205 in Fast Car! I did of course explain to him that my Max Power days were over fairly soon after I could grow stubble and that actually these mods aren't permitted where you have a company car and have to retain your warranty. Plus I don't own a baseball cap! (although I left that bit out)

Are our Dealerships really stooping so low as to employ these cretins or am I just being a grumpy old s*d because its Monday and I don't want to be here?

Anyway - no need for lots of 'I bet you were the same at that age' threads, just sharing what I thought was an amusing experience.

Oh - and should he really be telling me how Scooby's aren't all they're cracked up to be given that I've just bough one and he works for the Dealership

When you pick it up, just mention to someone at the dealers that you are thinking of getting rid of it and trading to something else because one of their staff said that Subarus were crap and that there are much better cars out there.

I'm sure they'd be interested to know who it was

The other side of the coin is the Porsche service I had recently, two middle aged, respectable looking gentlement in shirts & ties gave me an almost silent lift home (about 50 miles) before heading off to pick up someone else's porsche for a service. That's what they do, all day every day, what a job!

becauses hes wearing a baseball cap he is branded with a bad name eh? and the fact that he thinks a well modded 205 is a better car... I dont find it that hard to agree with him tbh

this morning I had my baseball cap on ~(callaway golf cap actually) and I hold the opinion that my 18yr old reno 5 GTT is a better all round car than my MY98 terzo does that make me a "baseball cap clad youth" and Im 24 btw

Lots of golfers wear baseball caps.
I think its because tees don't give enough protection from sun glare in your eyes and it bloody hurts when your caddy is putting them in.
Not to mention "Water on the brain" if it rains.

Davegtt, there are a couple of quick diagnostic checks you can do if you're not sure if you're a Chav.

Do you have any of the following:

Any clothing that features a Burberry check pattern
Sovereign rings
A chunky gold(ish) necklace
A fierce dog, preferably leashed with some sort of chain
A McDonalds loyalty card
A criminal record

If you can answer yes to more than two you're probably a Filthy Charver

my office is above a VW van centre, all I hear all day is screeching of tyres and chav's cheering and larking around, what makes you think the same doesnt happen at the Subaru dealers????

The VW van center is an authorised VW dealer and the mechanics dont appear to have chav hats - they look quite ordinary, but I wouldn't trust them with my pushbike knowing what I hear during the working day!

lol.. no just dont like the term Chav, 1 of them words that I find annoying... I understand why some people are labeled i.e the burberry group but when you start saying some1 is a chav for wearing baseball caps or because they own a dog that might look fierce or drive a particular car I think it starts to get pathetic.

just my opinion, counts for nowt probably but there you go

I never said you were a chav, merely that you look like an idiot.

The 205 GTi is getting on a bit now, don't see many around, but they were pretty special when they first came out. Probably the 1st seriously hot shopping trolley?

I wouldn't buy one cos they're French and they wouldn't buy our Rovers - not that you could blame them lol

I love 205 GTi's.. They're great..

But- I hate seeing chav'd up body-kitted 205's with massive wheels

Ruins such a classic car imo..

You may like mine then With 170bhp to boot as well, or it did til the engine died last week. In the process of replacing it now (the engine) up to 200bhp hopefully.
