Default Oil help needed

Advice please Just had a 1000 mile service on my WRX.

The dealer put in Mobil 10/40w oil and filter. He said it is semi synthetic and most Impreza’s run on this. I asked for fully synthetic oil but they didn’t have any on day I visited.

Is this oil ok or should I have it changed again for Fully synthetic Oil

Cheers

Dave

You should really run semi synthetic for 4-5k before changing to fully synthetic so that your engine is fully bedded in, there is nothing wrong with what they have put into your scoob though
If you would have had fully synthetic, the dealer probably would have put a 5w30 in there which isnt good as its too thin (they should read the handbook more )

Thumbs up

Tony is correct.

Just had a new motor in my Turbo. Rang a couple of dealers and they both told me they use semi.

Mobil 10/40w is fine. Enjoy.

Red.

Amazing how many variations of oils have been mentioned already in so few threads !!

I'm running in an 'uprated' engine at the moment and it has 10/40 Valvoline TurboV oil in it but will be switching to 5/50 Valvoline Racing Fully-Synthetic oil when its run in.

So theres another variation for yer !!

Semi synthetic is generally recommended for the Scooby engine and I personally would stick with that anyway.

Impressed with your username, I really like that particular cheese

At the end of the day it's personal choice but if you are using your car for trackdays or hard driving, fully synthetic will give you a better level of protection than semi-synthetic so bear this in mind.
