Default Pot Holes from HELL that you just cannot avoid !!!!

These Bl00dy things really P1ss me off , Hit the Mother of all pot holes today whilst overtaking a bus, I was comitted & could not avoid it, The Bang & shudder went through Me & i swore out loud, Nice vibration has appeared now whilst turning right.

Who monitors these things ?? (Nobody) The state of the roads is getting worse , All this heavy road transport, Every manhole has sunk or has a gapping hole at the side.. I have to drive around like im drunk swerving left & right..

Right Rant over, Suspension check over tonight i think

Dean

Take a photo of it asap mate. Send this to the highways dept of the local council, together with a letter holding them responsible, and detailing the damage caused to the vehicle.

I ran over one a while ago, it was so bad I got a puncture as I went thru it (18" long, 12" wide, 5" deep). Took photos and tried to claim from the highways agency but they said that they had fullfuillled there duties becuase they had inspected it 2 weeks before!!

Its still with the lawers.

Oh.... It was filled in the day after I reported the damage tho, funny that.

Be prepared to be knocked back - the standard council response is "all we need to do is demonstate that we (the council) have a system of regular inspections in place every x months and when this patch of road was last inspected it was OK" .....

so...F *** Off,

The Council

My P1 front wheel was dented by a massive pot hole and guess what, it seems to have been my fault for driving over it!

I heard its up to them to prove it wasnt the road condition that caused the damage, not you who has to prove it did (if that makes any sense!)
You can but try!

This happened to me a couple of years ago when i was out in my Pride and Joy (Ford Orion Ghia with TSW Hockenheims) DONT LAUGH !!!!!! Dented the wheel and bubbled the tyre. Tooks some pics. Filled in some claim form at the council HQ (Renfrewshire). They then paid out about about 70% of my claim. No lawyers involved.

It's normally best just to not give up when trying to get money back. I'm getting good at it now!!! If u have a claim, keep sending letters even if the first few they send back say no, a lot of places pay out if you stay on it.

I went down a pothole in stockport last year... I took them to court wanting 4 tyres and loss of earnings (£480)... after 1 year i got £250 from them... so get a good brief and push it home. after all we pay road fund to keep the roads in check, if they are not up to standards claim from them.... if it is a private road claim from the residents from the road.

Forget potholes: recently installed "speed bumps" have been installed near my house which I have to endure to get anywhere. I always go over them as slow as poss because they are very harsh and uncomfortable (i.e. slower than walking pace). Going to work this morning, went over the first one and the brake warning light came on, the things are so severe that they are causing my brake fluid to slosh about and leak through the breather.

What makes it worse is the bloody Lib Dems campaigned for them to go in and are now campaigning for them to be taken out and want the credit for both things

lmao. Yup!

Pot holes are a nightmare for me where i stay - lots of untended single track roads and sunken manholes in Aberdeen itself. Succesfully kept my 18" Superleggeras round for 18 months and hoping to do the same for the Turinis...

Here's to hopping!

Get pictures of the damage and receipts for your repairs, My wife has today received a cheque for damage to her alloy wheel and split tyre to her KA. We had to replace both. It took a lot of phoning and letters but it worked.
