Cool

Having read the previous thread on SIDC annual renewal only AFTER I had sent off my £20 I was wondering if I would get a discount for joining so late in the 'year'.

Imagine my surprise when, this morning, my membership pack dropped through the door with my membership valid till 31/8/2001

That should shut up the 'doubting thomas' types among you, get your money in the post NOW!

Chris,
are you actually admitting defrauding the SIDC here??

In the end I gave up and sent my cheque off.

I still reckons it less hassle to process a cheque for £35 once, than two for £20.

Hi Mark,

Wheels look great!

You get 'True Grip' magazine, very flash!
SIDC windscreen sticker 2-Off
SIDC Tax Disc Holder
Toyo Tyre report using a Subaru
Various Flyers
SIDC Membership Rules
SIDC Membership Card

Also entitles you to discounts from various Scooby suppliers

Sickboy, I don't think you get it mate, I sent them £20 in June and they sent me next years membership £20 + £0 = £20

Chris

Chris,
does you membership run from now to 31/8/2001?

Are you currently a member?

If yes to both then that seems OK. I assume you read the other thread, my point being that if you aren't a member, and send £20 now, you will have to renew again in September for next year.

If you are not a member then you've been "generously given" 15 months membership. This is contrary to what we've been told.

I can spell it out or use larger type if you want

Cool

I have just received my invite for the SIDC AGM (via snail mail). 30th July but you MUST have a valid SIDC membership card to get in.

Cheers

Sorry folks, was trying to reply to this earlier but I was at my mates and could not remember my password to post.

As I said above: I applied for my first membership at the beginning of June, expecting it to run to September/October (seems to depend on where you read it???)

When it arrived, this week, the stamped compliment slip is dated 01/09/2000 to 31/08/2001 (so it's effectively NEXT years membership) so does that mean I don't 'actually' become a member till September???

I've got my membership card [No.1242] so I guess I can quote that for discounts etc.

Anyway my original point was, relating to the previous thread, that you will not be wasting your money if you send it off now

Perhaps the SIDC are responding to the previous thread???

Hope that clears it up

Chris

KimA: Sounds like you were just a tiny bit too early to get this deal????
Sickboy: let us know when yours comes through!

I applied beginning July last year. I paid my £20 and my first renewal is due this year

I seem to remember the same thread this time last year too!

Yipee! My SIDC membership pack arrived yesterday and my membership expires August 2001.

I'm really looking forward to going on the Essex Police Advanced Drivers Course, though it looks like I'll have to wait a bit, as the August course has been cancelled and no date has been announced for the next one.

Early June 2000 to August 2000 = £20. It seems to be a lottery (and I haven't won recently).

Unhappy

After reading all these posts I feel a little disgruntled. I sent my money off at the beginning of June, recieved my membership in the middle of June, and have now got membership until 31/08/2000,(although I new about this date ). What I Can't grasp is that members joining after July are getting a full year,2 weeks after I joined. This is surely not cricket.
Any way that's my moaning out of the way.
Good magazine, good tax disc holder(just what I wanted).
Does anybody now if the SIDC hold regional meets. Before the subaru i was a member of the peugeot sport club, who had regular meets all around the country.

Question

Hi there,
What is the deal about membership renewals? Do they send you out a letter notifying you that you have to update it?
I've been a member for around a year and it should run out anytime this month or next but i haven't heard anything about it at all. Do you still have to pay the full amount even though you have the tax disc holder ,stickers, etc etc?
I'll have a look on the website again but would be good to hear just incase..
