nothing instant power down. If i remove the 4 plug molar power bit,the psu and chipset fans seem to work.

Makes me wonder if cpus given up the ghost or not?? got a spare P4 board but dont want to get drastic just yet.
Tried running it out of the case just incase it was acontact issue

Sounds most like a short circuit. Remove all the drive connections and all cards except the gfx and try again. If that fails, remove the gfx and see if you can get beeps from the BIOS. If it still stops almost immediately, then remove the motherboard from the case (with RAM and CPU still in) and rest it on an insulating surface (I use a breadboard). Note that the antistat bag is NOT an insulating surface. Disconnect all the case connections except the power button and try it. If it still fails, there's a way of triggering the boot without the power button by shorting two wires, but I can't remember which two. Do a Google to find out which ones, then disconnect the power button jumper and try that.

Done all of that, just had an email back from Antec they suspect its a PSU fault which is great, it'll be getting replaced by them i hope. what pisses me off most is, i was selling all this tomorrow
