Default Carbon Fibre Wheels For Cars

Does anyone know where I could see some wheels and prices. I saw a pic of a six spoke carbon wheel on a polished split rim on a cruise forum. The post said she saw these wheels on the SSC. Whatever that is?

Great in theory - how often do you need to keep refilling it though??

Wheel prices aren't as bad as I thought - $1600 isn't that bad at current exchange rates. As Steve said - you wouldn't want to curb them though

Apart from cosmetically, I can't see the point in those carbon fibre wheels. You would think the technical justification for using the material would be weight, but they are 5lbs heavier than the equivalent OZ Superleggera

Looking at the specification it appears that they're aluminium alloy with carbon fibre over the top. All purely cosmetic I suspect.

If CF was a viable material for wheels, F1 teams would be using it. But they aren't
I guess the stresses occur in the wrong directions for CF

You can get full carbon fibre wheels for motorbikes?? so why not cars!
F1 probaly don't use them because titanium is as light!

I'd imagine that you don't get CF wheels on a car because of the lateral forces involved when cornering.

These will be allot greater than a bike wheel would experience as the rider would lean to put the load through the center of the wheel.
