Bought my self a Short Shift, has not made a huge difference to the original...Has anyone else use this?

Also a week of having it..the Circlip (snapring) the holds the shaft down from under the car came off whilst i was driving, hence was not able to change gears...

Any thoughts? I was going to call the place where i bought it from and give them a grilling...nearly had a crash!

Though it was fitted correctly, just not sure why it happened? could it be the way the short shift changes gears, and the holding parts can not cope?

I had a B&M fitted to my Legacy Turbo...it worked for a while then buggered up bad style. Apparently it had to be modified to fit my car even though it was supposed to be for my make and model. I ended up having to have it put back to normal...same old rubbery gear change!!!

 

Quickshift / shortshift gear levers are great... although it seems certain makes are not as robust as others?

I got one for my classic - forget make - 3 years ago and has always worked great, nice snappy throw.

 

I used the B&M on my 99my when I had it and it worked fine and made a noticable difference to the throw.
If the problem was with the snap ring under the car, this is most likely an installation problem and not with the unit itself. Incidently, it can be installed without resorting to delving under the car.
I found the unit to be very well made.

Agreed B & M levers are very well made and the only forseable way to yhave a prob is poor fitment.
I also make my own levers which are as quick shifting as the BnM, also very good..

Have replaced the Snap rings that hold the shaft down from under the chasie...had to get this from Subaru, as all locally picked up ones where not up to the job..
