Default Anyone properly driven a WR1 yet???

As the title suggests, has anyone got past the dreaded 1000 miles and finally opened her up properly.....

also has anyone been able to compare with other scoobs....

interested to know and compare findings.

worst thing is my wife keeps saying "dont you fancy a change that's a great colour"

Default wr1

This is how it pulls up a big hill close to me..

Civic R 100mph
Bug wrx 100mph
sti 7/8 111mph
wr1 123 mph
993 carrera 4 120 ish as I remember
4.5 V8 westfield 138mph

Handles nice understeers much less than standard sti. I got a 24 mm adjustable rear bar on mine turns in a bit to twitchy on the toughest setting, haven't softened it off yet?

Ummmm....mines done about 4400 miles...nicely run in...and yes it has been opened up on numerous occasions

Personally I think this is the BEST UK subaru to date...the mid and top end torque figures are superb...the diff amusing (and so far I have only dared play in wide open spaces off public highways....which, on hindsight is a very good thing as I kept doing 180's when I wasn't planning too!!!)...and great fun....tho to be perfectly honest I think the best thing to do is run it in Auto whenever on the open road and let the car do what it was designed to do, i.e. sort itself out when you're about to make a BIG mistake ...

Suspension ... well what can I say, none of the bouncing experienced in the previous models....ride is good...not too firm....yet firm enough to feel comfortable and safe when cornering...

Tyres...great grip (so far!!) ... not a lot of wear...good feel as well....I am confident when cornering of the amount of grip I have

Economy....well who cares!!!

Smile Factor......100 out 100....

Colour...yes I like it!!! and I don't care what anyone else thinks...its my car afterall

Value for money....yup...well worth it

Chuffeed to bits with a top new car, which is nicely run in now...

I agree fully with RUM.............although mine has only done 1150 miles (so far)...........it IS by far and away the best UK Impreza!! (This is my third).

...............the acceleration above 4000 RPM can only be described as EXPLOSIVE!!

In fact, even compared to my old STi PPP, the phenomenal performance can be a bit of a shock!!
..................anyone who says it isn't any quicker than an STi PPP must be suffering from severe sensory deprivation!!

Every day it just feels better and better.................!!

P.S. Have just fitted 'Prodrive' mud flaps like the one's on RUM's car. They're expensive, but certainly worth it!!.......They look fabulous and really protect the paint!!

Arron, he said "properly" driven one

It's the best UK car and if you can afford it (and like the colour) go for it.

Proper tyres, geometry and driver and it'll easily match the Evo.

I thought it was genetically impossible for women to suffer from colour blindness.

You learn something new every day on here.....

When I was running in, nearly everyday bleeding day! had something nice side by side at the traffic lights. Three cars of note: a R34 skyline, M3, and a escort cossy. The 1st two were very early on in the cars life so I had none of it, kept the revs below 3000. The cossy driver though winded down the window, mentioned how nice the car was and tried to egg me on. I told him I was still running her in and she was due her 1000 mile service a couple days! Lights turned amber and he wheelspan off. While still keeping the rev's below 4000 (believe me or not)I thought he would of battered me ALOT more than he did! Yes he prob didn't give it all he had. Will be a different story next time

I've also convoyed with a couple scoobs, two uk classics, one being an rb5 and a spec C. On one occasion, on a slow rolling start with the rb5. We both stepped on it. The rb5 pulled about a cars lengths on me (like an aspirated car would do to begin with) and it wasn't till 3rd gear till I caught him. Once in 4th gear though (the WR1's best gear imo) I passed and proceeded to make ground. The rb5 did do allot better than I would of thought though. It was running a full d-cat and a revised ecu(I think).
At the next set of traffic lights we both did a proper start. I'll let him tell the out come if he wants to;P

I am pleased how she does against the spec C though. I think the specC is running a miltek exhauset and a remap. The times the spec C pulls any distance is in on the 1st snap of the accelerator, slightly between gear changes and during one point in 2nd gear. Apart from that they are pretty equal, only talking half to a cars lengths differnce to not too clever speeds, to the specC. Im sure once well into 5th and 6th it would gradually start pulling away though. I hope the guy doesn't mind me posting this

The only play though some lanes was with a Z4. I was just fast cruzing and didn't even think he was trying to keep up till we hit a long straight and I noticed this car I saw behind a mile or so b4 bombing up behind me lol.

All in all another very very happy WR1 owner
