After test driving a FQ300 this morning I came away very dissapointed with the grunt of the engine, I have booked a test drive with a MR340 in a couple of weeks but I really want to know what a Type 25 is like...is it better than a Spec C or MR340.....are there any owners of a Type 25 on here. I have 440 bhp RS4 at the moment so straight line speed isn't going to be beaten but the handling can be improved upon vastly......opinions please.

I think you might be surprised at just how fast the T25 is.

It's a truly incredible tool, and you will find yourself travelling at speeds on many roads that you simply wouldn't dare in the RS4. I haven't actually driven an RS4 but have been a passenger, and I have to say I didn't feel as comfortable travelling quickly on minor A and B roads as I did behind the wheel of the T25.

There is practically no let up in the pace of acceleration, even in 5th and 6th.

The (adjustable) suspension somehow manages to be utterly stable on fast bends and yet almost refined around town.

Likewise, with the extra torque of the 2.5 you can pootle around in 4th and 5th all day.

The only thing I would change is the front brakes. In a car like that you really need some AP 6-pots or similar.

 

Absolutely agree on the brakes.

First thing on my STI8 was take those Brembos off....

Can be improved though with better discs and pads.

My mate has a 410 bhp RS4, and I drove it when it was standard and after the remap.

To me it didnt feel tremendously faster, only marginally.

There is a great quarter mile simulator that can pit various cars against each other. (using real world data)

The Type 25 leaves the standard RS4 a good few car lengths behind over the 1/4

Now pure speculation, but I think it would do the same to my mates modded RS4.

As for yours at 440 bhp I dunno !! but test drive one.. and let us all know !!

and thats just in a straight line - over a mile of twisties there would be simply no comparison.....

i think you would have to ask him that question for him to answer.
Mike and Prodrive are still the best at what they do with what they get.
The WR1 is a fantastic car.
Its a shame that so many people slate it.
So much rubbish about it take Top Gear for example.

I would buy a WR1 no question but my next car has to be SIGNIFICANTLY different to the car I have and the T25 fits that bill.
I`ve done the M3 thing and the luxury thing. I need raw performance with a little comfort at a reasonable cost then I`m sorted.
Just need the warranty to be hard and fast!!!
I think Iain has produced something that PD would love to have done and are more than capable of doing. Like I say they have to work with whatever Subaru UK chuck at them.

The WR1 has P Zero Nero's on, same as I got on my 18"s and I think they're ok... squealy but pirelis are good tryes...

I had a run ingainst a RS4, and to be really honest from the roundabout up 500m of dual carrigeway... it didn't exactly romp out of sight, more just walking pace... That was in my STI PPP with half a tank of juice and me onboard... i expected it to be blistering, like when I got wasted by a Tuscan...

Not that it proves anything, but a Spec C will get from 70mph to circa 130mph very slightly quicker that an RS6, up an incline. We started side by side ( Yes, it was a dual carriageway, and it was mate so I do know he was trying) but I did honestly expect to be left behind.

Having driven the T25, I think you'll need the same power as an RS6 but be a good 500kg lighter to worry it. Very impressive indeed.

I was reeling him in but not as fast as I would have liked.
