MY04 STI
Just noticed my new MY04 STI doesn't have a "Type UK" badge underneath the STI badge on the boot. Is this normal for a UK dealer supplied car? Mine has the square lock on the boot, so have Subaru omitted this badge for the 2004 model year?

My MY03STi also doesn't have a type UK badge under the STi which also had me worried when I bought it.
Although I now prefer it without I'm still puzzled why it isn't there
or why the dealer removed it.
Anyone else??

If you look at the brochures for both MY03 and MY04, neither have it fitted, but I guess the brochure is mean't for all European markets. However I have seen pictures in the gallery on here with it fitted
Glenn, maybe ours fell off on the transporter

I made sure mine had this, and the one on the intercooler...
As far as i was aware that was one of the things you don't get with an import... and one that distiguishes it as a UK car...

Just a thought, but aren't the 'Type UK' badges applied by IM once imported to the UK?
Surely the factory won't apply them, as they will be catering for a number of non-type UK markets....

mine didn`t have one when I went to collected it in may 2003, the dealer had run out and put it on for me a week later, when I asked about it. Although it did have the TYPE UK on the intercooler. If they`re TYPE UK it`s says it on the log book also.

What do you mean a badge on the intercooler? Mine has the logo painted on the IC but not a badge as such.
It does have the Type UK on boot though.
I went and looked at my new STi that arrived at the dealership yesterday. First thing I noticed was that it didn't have the "Type UK" badge on it either. The sales chap said they would get one, but I thought they would come with them fitted. The car hasn't been PDI'd yet so I don't know if IM should have fitted it, or if it's in the car somewhere, ready for the dealer to fit.

IMHO the only reason for the Type UK badge is so that dealers can tell that the 'rip-off Britain' tax has been paid - ie. it's UK supplied rather than being an identical but cheaper Euro import. Has nobody wondered why there isn't a Type France, Type Deutschland or Type Belgique? I'll be interested to hear if you have any problems getting warranty work or servicing done at another dealer...
Whats the difference between an 03 and an 04 STi ???

The Type UK badge on boot is an addition to the STI and the glue is c--p, mine is allways lifting & I give it a good rub. The WR1 doesn't have one as it is an STI WR1 not uk. The one on intercooler is also only a stick on. Both are probably put on by IM when thay arrive.
