Unstable Feeling...
I have an MY00 Turbo running on 215/40/17 tyres that are about half worn. The car suspension is totally standard. Car has done 26k.
The car drives perfect on a good road but feels very twitchy or unstable at the front on uneven or bad back roads and more so under braking.
I have 32 psi on the front and 30 psi on the back. It’s not an impossible felling but a bit annoying and does not feed back a lot of confidence.
I have heard a lot about the bumpsteer mod and have read up on it by doing a search. Is this what I am after to cure my complaint or is it something else.
Are classic Impreza’s known for this?
Thanks in advance.

Check your dampers for signs of leaks, if all ok i'd then get the geometery checked out.
mine had a twitchy rear end (oh er missus) last year, turned out to be a blown damper.

Hi
I have a MY00, had the geometry done and all seemed well. Just had to change the dampers as they were kna**ered. Subaru failed to notice it when they did the geometry. It was just that the car felt loose when pushing it on country roads.
I had no visible leaks on the shocks, but when i stripped it down 2 of the shocks could be pushed down really easily and failed to return.
New shocks/springs/poly bushes/drop links etc. later all is well.
Hope this helps

Try geometry first.

Thanks for that, do you think removing the bumpsteer will make a big difference? I think the dampers are fine but I would hardly think they would give up after the mileage they have done, would they?
